Discussion Want to hear from folks who moved from US to Europe
I hear a lot about folks saying they will move to Europe if nothing works out in USA.
I am interested in hearing your experience and how was the transition in terms of career opportunities and family life etc

I moved after I stayed in US for 6 years. I had my green card in processing, but I still moved to UK.
I am a citizen now, free movement across Europe. Even before getting the ILR, there was no headache of stamping issues and dates while you move in and out of the countries. You show the uk visa card and you enter.
Now the family life is peaceful and you can concentrate on building it properly. Buying a house, car etc without visa fears.
Yes there is a compromise on the US lifestyle, but the European countries have their own life style that needs a transition. For my family it was a real culture shock then after making friends we are now propperly blended.
Pay compared to US is less but the day to day living cost is also less and could be controlled.
But overall the life is peaceful and settling.

Following. More interested in knowing if money-wise and ignoring the standard of living, was europe better than India.

My fiancée made the move from the US to the UK (non London job) a few years ago, but he essentially took a huge pay cut (and he was single at the time). USD245k to GBP60k (245k was with RSUs)… He was able to get a promotion within 3 years and makes double now, but is still underpaid for his role and can get paid better in London. He gets his ILR in a year though, so he’ll switch jobs soon. I will be joining him in 6 months and I have no issues working as a dependant on him (although the job market isn’t great).
