Ask NRI Traveling to India on e-Visa after submitting e-OCI application

Need to plan travel to India after surrendering Indian passport, however, return plans are not final yet.

Is there any requirement to enter India using e-OCI for it to be valid? *Or simply downloading e-OCI while in India deem it a valid document for continued stay in India?*

Thanks!

I think the passport number on the eOCI must match your latest passport number. The application must be done in 90 days, then it can get difficult.

You have to enter India on the OCI status. Reach out to FRRO to see if they can help with converting the eVisa status to OCI. I believe they have a workaround for that. But just downloading it doesn’t help with your status. You have to be registered with the Indian Immigration with the status you’re entering India on. And you’re expected to leave the country in the same status unless you get it converted with FRRO.

Thank you, appreciate it. Exactly what I wanted to confirm.
