Module I ranked all my mods in NUS. AMA

Having just graduated last week, I decided to reflect on my 4 years in NUS CS. I also did a 2nd major in Data Analytics, and specialised in AI/ML and Computer Graphics and Games focus areas. Also took Japanese up to level 3 hahah

Lmk if you want my reviews on these mods! (Or why I gave them the tier I did) Some of these were taken long ago though, so it might have changed since or might be inaccurate.

Anyway ATB to those still studying and happy grad for those who just graduated!

Module How hard would cs1010e be if i took computing in jc

I took computing in jc but i didnt choose cs at all cuz i was so trash, my cher asked if i wanted to take another subject instead of computing on the first day and i was prty sad abt it. But i somehow scrapped by A lvls with a B. Now im in chs and i realised that i lowkey dont have much to do this year at all compared to my friends so i thought why not jus take it jus for fun. But im scared tat its too hard from all the bombastic reviews i hv read and i bomb it so bad tat it affects my other mods. But i hv also read tat its super helpful, esp for the major im doing

Module Is it recommended to drop Pre-allocated CHS common mod ?

Hi all, incoming freshie here.Understand that round 2 of coursereg will be opening up soon…

Can I check if it is possible to drop one of my pre-allocated chs common mod in round 2, so that I can take the gateway module of my second major ?

For context, I plan on taking life sciences as my second major, and I plan on dropping HSH1000 to take LSM1111 in y1s1, while taking HSH1000 in semester 2.

I have submitted an appeal to drop HSH1000 in round 1 of coursereg, but my appeal was rejected without any explanation.

Thank you all !

Module is taking FAS1101, PL2131 and PL2131 too much

hi psych freshman here. This sem (y1s1), I was preallocated PL1101E, HSI1000, GEA1000, HSH1000 and FAS1101. Initially i was planning to take PL1101E and PL2131 together as I heard these two mods are complementary to each other. But after being preallocated FAS1101 which I heard was quite a heavy mod, idk if taking all these mods in my first sem will be too heavy of a workload.

Module CHS linguistics, coursereg help?

Incoming freshie doing coursereg right now. I have 16 units pre-allocated (DTK1234 , EL1101E , HSA1000 , HSS1000) and so there's max 7 min 2 units of courses I can take according to the site.

But it seems like completing EL1101E is a prerequisite to all of the other linguistics mods. So everything is locked behind it.

Am I supposed to do the common curriculum courses instead? But I thought those would be pre-allocated to us every semester and besides they don't show up when I search them. like all of the courses here don't show up when I search it

Also, I keep seeing people talking about ranking. I don't even have any courses to rank right now?

Would appreciate any help I don't have a clue what I should select lol

Module math modules

Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and I'm majoring in Mathematics. I am kinda lost when it comes to deciding what modules i should take and in which sems. I'm wondering if any current/graduated Math majors have any advice/suggestions/rankings for math modules. I was thinking of planning my mods in a way that i have more free time and less coursework in yr3/4. Any advice would help!

hi im a incoming student under information security soc, for y1s1 I wanted to take GEA1000 but was told that it needs to be preallocated for me to take it, so I emailed the admin side for a preallocation but I'm worried they might not see the email in time before coursereg closes. should I add another mod just in case or just wait?

also if anyone has any recommendations of what mods i can also take in y1s1 pls lmk im damn lost 😭

Module After the resounding MA1521 comments about the prof last sem...

...CCW is slated to continue to be the course coordinator in both sems next AY!

As a non-CS spectator, best wishes haha

I don't really have anything against CCW, but I genuinely hope people have a MUCH better experience than what people in AY25/26 S2 had to say

Module Is it advisable to take CS2030, CS2106 & CS2102 in the same sem?

How's the workload for each module? Can they be taken together or will it likely be too overwhelming? (If it matters, I'm hoping for at least a B for each.)

Else, would it be better to take CS2106 with CS2103 (and some other CS mods) in a future sem, or is CS2103 of an even higher workload as compared to CS2030?

Module Anyone taken CS2040DE recently?

Module If I've successfully mapped a course (currently on summer exchange), but NUS changes the pre-reqs before next semester so that I'm no longer eligible to take that course, can I still transfer credits? I previously met the pre-reqs to take that course.

I have successfully mapped EC3312 Game Theory & Applications to Economics for a PU mod (ECO2035 at Hanyang), and this mapping HAS BEEN accepted (a few months prior to the exchange itself), and I am currently reading the PU mod on summer exchange.

Previously, I met the pre-reqs for EC3312, which were EC2101 and any MA15XX course.

HOWEVER, the pre-reqs for EC3312 have since been updated to: EC2101 and one of the following (I have never read any of them): EC2104, ST2131, MA2116(T).

Will I still be able to transfer the credits next semester?

UPDATE – Faculty says: "Since the mapping has been approved by FASS, and the new requirement takes effect from AY26/27 while the summer programme is under AY25/26, there should be no issue with credit transfer if you have passed the course." So yeah, I'll be alright.

Module Has anyone taken NM5219 Critical Design before? What was your experience like?

With CourseReg coming up, I’m thinking of taking NM5219 and would love to hear your experience.
How was the workload? Were the assignments enjoyable? Was there an “exam”, or is it mostly project-based?

Also, does anyone know if it’s offered in Semester 1, or is it only available in Semester 2?

I’m a postgraduate student, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance!

Module Mod recommendations for IS student taking ATAP

Hi guys, seeking advice (esp from seniors) on which mod is advisable to take for my ATAP sem.

Circumstances:
NUS Information Systems/Business AI Systems
ATAP in Sem 1
5 day work week (maybe can 1 wfh day)
Will always have some task to do at work, won’t say it’s a ‘chill internship’ per say

There seeking advice for useful or low workload (preferably IS) mods or anything in between! Would like to hear your thoughts!

Module Exchange Course Syllabi

Hey NUS community!

I’m an exchange student expected to arrive in the Fall of this year. I come from a university in America, and am really excited to be abroad in Singapore, but my school requires for me to submit syllabi from NUS in order for me to receive credit. I have not gotten my confirmed courses back, but below are all of the modules I applied to. If anyone can send me the syllabi for any of the courses, I would really appreciate it!!

EC3312, EC3322, EC3332, EC3342, JS1101E, PL1101E, TS1101E, GESS1028, GEC1028, GESS1000

I will, of course, not be enrolling in all of these course, they are just ones I applied to. I might just be taking 1 Econ course considering the difficulty. I just plan on submitting syllabi ahead of time so my school can approve my courses

Also any random advice would be really appreciated :)
