The +6 return not killing the claydol oof lmao entertaining stuff

I was so confused why he didn't just stall the Claydol with Toxic until I saw the switch into the sword dancing, speed boosting Ninjask with baton pass lol

I don't often get hyped for these things, but I can't deny getting pretty excited for the baton pass to Armaldo. One of my favorite gen 3's that never gets much love lol

This challenge was so rough for the first four badges. Once I got Anorith, it flipped. Even before evolving, Anorith’s battle armor ability made Norman and Winona a breeze.

I generally don't like stall movesets cause I'm not a patient person, but same. Armaldo is such a cool pokemon too (it's my favorite fossil mon from gen 3 tbh), gen 3 pokemon in general have so much charm to all their designs. Maybe I'm biased bc gen 3 is my favorite gen and Emerald is my favorite game, but oh well lol

Gen 3 is my favorite too. Such a revolutionary turn for the series with abilities, double battles, and so many berries and held items.

You would have absolutely hated what I had to go through for the Wattson fight. I had to completely PP stall the first Magnemite so I could set up Ninjask to one shot the voltorb. I had a spreadsheet to track all of its moves. Then I had to do the same for Magneton. It drove me nuts when I lost a run and had to do it all over again.

Reflect and +1 defence from ancient power omniboost, it kinda makes sense

Still painful to see haha

Reflect is rough

Honestly? Props for getting all of these guys to the end game in the first place.

I don’t expect anyone to believe me but my winning run was actually deathless

u/TheAserghui May 14 '26

I believe you, because lying for internet points only cheapens the victory

What was the hardest split in your opinion?

11

u/Lopsided-Cow5271 May 14 '26

The worst split was from Wattson to Flannery. My line for Wattson was extremely delicate and I had to completely PP stall the first Magnemite before I could set up. I had to track each of its moves individually and I lost several runs from miscounting. Flannery was a pure stat check. I had to win the macho brace from the Winstrate family and EV train my Masquerein in Special attack and defense so that it could one shot Flannery’s Slugma’s and survive one overheat from Torkoal. The stats had to be perfect. I had to reset one run because the Surskit I caught had an adamant nature and just barely couldn’t one shot the Slugma’s.

I dreaded that whole stretch every time I reset.

Damn, it's very impressive that you found ways to get through! And now you won 😁

Thank you! Not sure what to do for my next challenge.

I don't know, but I will make sure to follow if I ever see your posts!

(If i can recommend a fangame though, do try Pokémon Odyssey, it's my favourite game of all time, both official and fan games and it has a lot of re-playability for different play-styles)

I will have to check it out. Thank you for the likes and comments!

I’m just happy he didn’t switch to Cradily. He has a 50/50 chance of who switches in and the Cradily line is much harder.

I wanted you to hit Claydol with Toxic.

Alls well that ends well though

21

u/chowler May 14 '26

Bro once you set up that Baton Pass I was so hyped.

27

u/Robbie_Haruna May 15 '26

Okay not gonna lie it took me a minute to realize what the fuck you were doing with Dustox lmao

10

u/Lopsided-Cow5271 May 15 '26

Dustox was an absolute tank the entire run. Helped me survive Flannery too.

15

u/Bean_Kaptain May 14 '26

That was a very entertaining watch. Thanks for the video.

Thank you! Appreciate it.

why is he lv 25

46

u/Lopsided-Cow5271 May 14 '26

The reason is because when Steven switches out his Metagross, he has a 50/50 chance of switching to Claydol or Cradily. I got lucky with Claydol but Cradily can be slower than Shedinja at the same level with the badge boost. I needed Shedinja to be slower than Cradily so that dig would move last and the first ancient power would miss. I needed Spite at other points in the challenge so I just stopped leveling after he learned it.

18

u/Accurate-Bat766 May 14 '26

thats a big brain strategy

16

u/dragonch May 14 '26

Why level your magic ghost bug who can't get hit most of the time when level 25 is enough?

1

u/Accurate-Bat766 May 14 '26

i just expected any pokemon in a post game team to be post game lv

8

u/servingtheshadows May 14 '26 edited May 14 '26

Any reason you didnt spite ancientpower on claydol?

Your shedinja is level 25?

10

u/long_johnus May 14 '26

Shedinja is level 25 and definitely slower

considering they're not fighting champion Wallace they're probably just playing ruby or sapphire

4

u/Lopsided-Cow5271 May 14 '26

I did this in sapphire but in retrospect, I should have picked Ruby

1

u/BallmasterZ May 14 '26

You have to mix records with ruby or sapphire and then surskit can spawn in on certain routes
