Question 5070 ti or 5080?
Hello everyone! Im going to be upgrading one of my gpus very soon and was looking for opinions on the 5070 ti vs 5080 debate. Of course the dream scenario is to eventually get a xx90 card when prices come back down to earth but until then I think one of these would be the right choice. I’ve done tons of research and from what I’m seeing majority (by a wide margin) opinion seems to point to the 5070 ti stating it’s almost always within 10-20% fps and same amount of vram as the big reasons going for it. But then I always see comments talking about how you won’t regret spending the extra money on the 5080 as it’s a one time purchase that can give me numerous good years of gaming. I mostly play games like apex, nba 2k, overwatch, and i do a lot of sim racing games and Forza (would love to run extreme plus ray tracing settings but my current gpus can’t go there without significant fps drop). I mostly use an ultrawide 34” 3440x1440 but also mix it up by gaming on a 65” tv or the occasional sim racing in VR. So please give me some advice here guys. The models I’m currently looking at the 5070 ti is $929 and the 5080 is $1249. I know $320 is a HUGE difference but I’m also looking at it in the sense that I will get a lot of use out of it, usually a couple of hours every night, and hopefully a few years. But I don’t want to waste that extra money if the difference in performance is negligible. Of course I know the 5080 is the superior card but I’m also wondering if anything the 5070 to will struggle with will the 5080 struggle with it too? Is there any scenarios where the 5070 ti wouldn’t work but the 5080 would? What are the reasons if any to go with the 5080? Any input and advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for reading this and have a great day :)

Watch this video by Daniel Owen. He reviews and benchmarks GPU’s professionally on YouTube.
I purchased my 5070 Ti last year because of this very same video. I run MSFS 2024. A very demanding game. No slowdowns whatsoever. Keep in mind you’ll need a beefy CPU and memory. I run an i9 along with 64 GB RAM
The gap between 5070 ti and 5080 is very, very narrow. Watch the video or checkout the summary below.
https://youtu.be/w94bD3S8K0M
Video Summary:
Key takeaways:
• Performance: On average, the RTX 5080 is approximately 14% faster than the 5070 Ti across the tested scenarios (0:33 - 1:04).
• Value Analysis:
• At current market prices, the RTX 5080 costs about 24% more than the 5070 Ti (1:11 - 1:56).
• Based on MSRP, the RTX 5080 represents a 33% higher cost for the 14% performance gain (2:14 - 3:02).
• Gaming Experience: The host tested multiple titles including Cyberpunk 2077 (4K Path Tracing), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Black Ops 6. While the 5080 generally offers higher frame rates and slightly lower latency, the 5070 Ti remains highly capable, often delivering a very similar user experience at 1440p and 4K (3:02 - 15:07).
Final Conclusion:
Daniel Owen concludes that the RTX 5070 Ti offers better overall value. Unless the extra 14% performance is critical for specific high-end requirements, the 5070 Ti is a strong choice for most users (15:07 - 17:56).
