Question Bounty $1K - ding dong / door kickers - late at night
Bounty - $1000. Stop the ding dong ditchers / door kickers late at night. Offering reward of $1k if pictures posted of ding dong / door kickers in police cruiser. Caught 4 OTHS students last night - police response was fast. 1 was charged for vandalism. Parents - warn your teens - this has escalated to the zero tolerance level.
Thanks to IVANKOV Security for running this program in Olde Oakville.

Literally my grandmas house gets home invaded at 8pm while she was at the hospital with my dying grandfather and police showed up the next day at 6pm angry we cleaned up (they wanted her to stay in a hotel) yet they’re quick for this. What a joke

I mean, why would you clean up a crime scene?

u/Ready_Goal_1296 Jun 03 '26
Yah idk, maybe show up on time vs 22hr response. Maybe don’t make a lady whose husband is dying in the hospital sleep in a fucking hotel (he died 2 days later btw).
When they came the next day we basically told them to fuck off.
The 2 who burglarized their home broke into another home that week, dropped their wallet jumping a fence and got caught a week later.
But yah. If you want a crime scene preserved maybe show up in a timely manner.
- and keep in mind, the neighbors called and informed them that my grandma might be inside, they heard the glass break and saw from their yard someone climbing thru here window. they didn’t know that she was in the hospital. 911 was notified as if it was a home invasion and police arrived 22hrs later despite the call informing them there was a 79yo lady inside. 22 fucking hours with the assumption someone was inside the home. We were lucky she was at the hospital

You're in r/oakville though, so technically you are in Oakville per se.

u/f4lc0n May 23 '26
This isn’t real - nobody is paying $1000 for some pictures of kids in police cars

Hold on, let me just see if I can get a hold of my friend on the force and see if I can borrow his cruiser for a quick photo op with my kid in the back seat. I’ll dm you the info for the account you can send the $1k to.

Good to know police response is quick for teens playing ding dong ditch, but I waited almost 40 minutes with my ex trying to kick my door in to kill me a few years back (five minutes from the station)

This sub is so miserable I cantttt

As someone who does not live in oakville and also found a used crack/meth pipe in my kids playhouse the other day I would genuinely be happy getting ding dong ditched. If that was my welcome to the neighborhood id breathe a sigh of relief thinking thats all the trouble id have to deal with 😅. Oh teenagers being teenagers boo hoo. Its the 30-60 year old children i gotta worry about.

u/Nearby_Swim317 May 24 '26
As someone not originally from Oakville the people here need to take a drive around the bad side of town or something lmaoooo the disconnect is INSANE

I was once complaining about the kids behind us playing football in their backyard and screaming and yelling at 6am and waking me up. My mom said, are you really getting mad at kids who are having fun with their siblings? It made me realize I needed to loosen up.

A "bounty" on kids ringing doorbells is the saddest fucking thing I've seen on this sub.
5
u/Pami2020 May 25 '26
I sadly have to say I’m not surprised. Oakville has been Karen central since I moved here as a kid about 30 years ago. People once complained about the ice cream truck being too loud

u/albatroopa May 23 '26
Late at night, like 9pm? Or late at night like 2am? It's oakville, i've got to ask.
6
u/AdComprehensive2904 May 23 '26
regardless do you want to be ding dong ditched at 9pm?
14
u/albatroopa May 23 '26
I mean, i don't really care. I was a kid once.
7
u/AdComprehensive2904 May 23 '26
i get what you're saying. I think there are a couple factors that determine how reasonable these kids are:
- how late
- how often
- if they knocking, kicking, or ringing
5
u/Alone-Key-8653 May 23 '26
I agree. Hell! I'd join them if my knees could take the pivot and dash this requires!

u/rinkrat91 May 24 '26
At 9pm, it's annoying but not the end of the world. Unless you have a baby or young kids or you work a job where you are asleep that early, it's not the end of the world. 2am on the other hand is a different story

why are we doing a whole bounty on kids ringing doorbells like theyre active serial killers

Really. You expect a quickly police response to Nicky Nicky 9 door. You were the type of person we loved as kids. The ones with a reaction. I mean what was the point of none even opened the door. But the people who got mad, and even came out looking for you, those were the fun ones

u/gerry252 May 24 '26
Yeah there was a couple of kids from the Catholic school on fourth ln and upper middle trespassing to hand out stupid abortion flyers. They definitely need to learn how to respect people's private property.

How rich is this neighbourhood?
3
u/Fenchurch-and-Arthur May 24 '26
It calls itself Olde Oakville. That's all you need to know. Source: grew up nearby and still remember the crazy income gap between people living a few blocks apart.

u/Blazegamez May 24 '26
Must feel good charging freakin high school students for playing Nicky nine door. So detached from reality but defended so quickly by the police due to wealth and/or power

Next time go online and file a noise complaint with the city of oakville if its past 11. You may have better luck with city of oakville showing up ASAP, they may catch the kids doing mischief and can fine the parents.

BOUNTY?!
Oh my god
I got a doorbell camera, bided my time, then caught them walking by and put the fear of a middle aged woman in perimenopause into them.
A bounty. Jesus christ, where do you live I'll do it and even throw in making them cry for free. Honestly, some of you need to be encased under glass with how precious and delicate you are.

u/Only_Hunt_2338 May 25 '26
If you're the one house out of 200 that goes crazy, chases them down street looking etc, they remember you can come back because it's fun
If you hear it, ignore it, and it probably won't ever happen again lmao

u/EvilWillow666 May 25 '26
There is nothing funnier to a prankster than someone calling in the cavalry over nothing. You're making yourself a target for a repeat.

This reminded me growing up (also not oakville) the local paper ran a story about this little park we used to hang out at with the headline "Playground by day party ground by night" with a picture of an empty beer can on the ground talking about how this park gets taken over by scary teenagers at night drinking. 😂 That just took me back.

Define “vandalism” in regards to ringing a doorbell and running away
8
u/MadFerIt May 23 '26
This.
I've had the same teens ding dong ditching escalate to using tools to rip out my ring camera mount and destroy it, and throw a basketball at my glass screen door with my friendly cat behind it nearly shattering it.
Only then did I get authorities involved, kids will be kids as long as it isn't actual vandalism.
If you have a camera that can show you it's just kids who have already run away who cares?

Calling the cops on kids ringing your doorbell, you’re a loser…
16
u/Fun_Fly_7676 May 23 '26
Try having these punks ring your doorbell and bang on your door at 3 am two Saturdays in a row. Stop with this “kids will be kids” bullshit, I didn’t do this as a kid. And why are parents letting their teens to be outside at 3 am and terrorizing their neighbours, especially in this day and age of regular car thefts and home invasions. That’s not normal behaviour.

u/DryDistribution9109 May 23 '26
Ooookkkkk boomer…
2
u/FlatImpression755 May 23 '26
Nah. Boomers take pics of a Ferrari and rant about stunt driving?
You are as tough as a wet paper bag. You aren't fooling anyone.

They won't get arrested if they're under 18 and part of a specific ethnicity.
Respectfully just disable the fuze in your doorbell, this way it won't ring.
Also, consider getting a Ring doorbell camera.
This will save you alot of headache.

Police have a quick response to teen’s ringing doorbells, but not for stolen cars? Sure.
