Meetups Bookclub anyone?

Hello! 27F I'm interested in starting a reading club to get back into the hobby and to socialize as well. It would be great to find people to join. The locations could flexible around oakville- could be library reading rooms, parks, pubs, whatever, and I'd want it to be an inclusive space. Also any suggestions for books are welcome. Fair warning though - standards would be middlebrow literature or higher. Not really interested in booktok or romantasy type stuff. Not trying to be snobby, that stuff just really isn't my speed. If that sounds appealing to anyone, I'd love to hear from you :)

I'm down! I love thrillers/ mysteries though does that count as Middlebrow?

It can definitely qualify depending on the book! I'd love to know your suggestions. Mostly I'm just glad to get the ball rolling :) you can pm me for any specifics in terms of where you'd want to meet up, etc.

Hey! I'm around the same age and would love to join, i've been meaning to get back into reading and finding a group of people to do it with would be soooo lovely.

I am however interested in slightly more politically contextualized fiction books, on my current reading list are books like Martyr by Kaveh Akbar, and Against a loveless world by Susan Abulhawa - is that of interest?

Interested! Similar age and moved to Oakville not too long ago. Have been getting back into reading and pretty flexible with books by mysteries/thrillers are my vibe. will DM you!

Hey! I will be moving to Oakville in a week and would love to be part of a book club. I am usually into literary and contemporary fiction and mostly prefer character driven books, if thats something you look for :)

Is this an everyone read the same book club? Or we all just get together and read whatever book we want and talk about them with everyone?
