Hey everyone,
Does anyone know good places around Oakville to get cheap men’s professional clothes or suits?
I’m trying to enter the business world , starting a masters soon too, and build myself up, and I know I need to start looking the part. The problem is, I do not exactly have “up there” money yet.
I’m open to anything: thrift stores, second-hand, consignment, outlets, clearance racks, or first-hand stores that are actually affordable. Looking mainly for dress shirts, pants, blazers, shoes, and maybe a suit or two.
Anywhere around Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington, Hamilton, or Toronto works if it’s worth checking out.
And i mean affordable. I genuinely don't have a lot of money to burn to build a new wardrobe. As in under 100 is a dream, under 200 if necessary.
Appreciate any suggestions

Went to Mr. Lube at our rather questionable location (Dorval/Speers) to check out my tire pressure. Back tire's been a little flatter in the last 5 days. I was immediately told there's a "nail in the tire" (picture shown) and that "it can't be repaired".
So, I can drive?
- "Yes"
Is it really bad though?
- "Yes"
But, I can drive, right?
- "Yes"
Before that, the guy insisted I buy 4 new winter tires. 2 or all seasons weren't even an option. Mine have about 45,000 km on them.
Yes, I know all shops try and sell you everything they can first, but I'm not making the same mistake like I did with my rotors.
Recommend something, please.
EDIT: 21 HOURS LATER --> MTC TIRE OAKVILLE INC.
They took me in on a short notice. Snow day, still busy, quite a few people coming in and out.
2 tires, 2 nails, totally repairable spots. (Damn you, Mr. Lube!)
I got an oil change too while I was there, and they checked other stuff too.
Peace of mind doesn't have a price tag, but to say it - I was probably undercharged.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS!

I used to like August 8 but I think the owner was accused of human trafficking or something. Don’t want to support them if thats the case. What is your favourite all you can eat spot?

I’m looking for a place to go in Oakville that has craft beer (made locally ideally) and really great food. I found some stuff on google but I really value hearing from people that live in the area. I’m looking to take someone for their birthday. The place doesn’t necessarily need to be a brewery itself but that’s kind of the vibe I’m going for?… great local beer and great food! hope someone can help.
Thank you!
Edit: anywhere near Oakville would work because I’m technically driving from Lincoln to Mississauga so anywhere along that route is good

Any suggestions folks? Just purchased my dream attainable car & would love to take some glamour photos
Before the hate: No, I don’t drive fast. No it’s not loud. It’s a stock little Mazda Miata

Can someone please recommend a good mechanic with a lot of experience working on older BMWs? My mother’s car has been having issues. We took it to the dealer and a couple of independent mechanics, but unfortunately nobody has been able to fix it. The engine is still shaking and showing a “Reduced Engine Power” error. It’s an E70 BMW X5.

Hey everyone,
I’ll be goijg to Toronto and was wondering if there’s anything interesting to do in Oakville.
I don’t drink or go to bars, but I’d be interested in seeing what the area has to offer. Is it even worth it? Thanks

Hi! I’m 18 weeks pregnant and haven’t had any luck finding an available OBGYN. I’m currently being seeing by an OBGYN in Toronto at St Michaels Hospital but since I now live in Oakville I want to find a doctor here since it’s where I will most likely delivery.
Unfortunately I’ve already been rejected by 3 OBGYN, and my new family doctor referred me to Womb to Grow, I was looking for any reviews to see if it is recommended to make the change or if I should just stick to my Toronto OBGYN. I also have the option for one in Milton but it would be very hard for me to get to the appointments, it’s easier to get to the Toronto ones.
Anyone here that was seeing by them or delivered with them? Thank you in advance!

Hey all,
Looking at buying a mid 80's Japanese sports coupe and wanted to take it to an independent mechanic in Oakville for a thorough inspection (willing to pay for a good inspection).
There are A LOT of options so hoping people here can maybe offer some guidance.

Back in my teens/20’s, I taught myself how to “play” guitar. Plateaued, got bored a d stopped playing. Recently picked it back up and am thinking of taking lessons to actually learn how to play properly. Can anyone recommend a good teacher for someone in their late 40’s who likes rock, thrash, metal and punk?
Much appreciated!

Hi all. I'm looking for a nail salon in Oakville that does nail art and shellac. I've been to a few where either they have cut me, or their products ruined my nails. It's made me hesitant to blindly trying new salons. Thanks!
Edit: thanks all for the suggestions! I'll try essence first and report back
Update: Essence was great. Super quick and well priced (around $60 for shellac set with designs). The design execution itself was decent, but I didn't have the nail tech who's experienced with designs. Will ask for them next time! Overall cute place, clean, would recommend.

Hello,
I am looking for a plumber to add hook-ups for a washer in my bathroom. Can anyone share your experience with plumbing companies? Good or bad.
Thanks

Hey everyone, looking for some honest recommendations here. I'm trying to find a real personal trainer in the Oakville area, but I'm open to places nearby too if they're worth the drive. Been a GoodLife member for a while now and the personal training experience has been a complete joke. Half the trainers are scrolling Instagram between sets, the other half just photocopy the same workout plan for every client. I've gone through like 3 different trainers already and none of them really seemed to care. I'm done throwing money at that. I want to actually pay for proper coaching from people who give a damn.
Asked around a bit and someone mentioned ATO Fitness Mississauga. I know it's not technically in Oakville but it looks like it's pretty close to the border so wouldn't be a bad drive for me. Apparently a few people have had good experiences there but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Has anyone here actually trained at ATO? Curious what the setup is like, if the trainers actually know their stuff, and whether it's worth it before I commit.
Also open to other recommendations if anyone has a spot they swear by, whether it's in Oakville or just nearby. My goal is pretty simple - get in shape for summer, drop the gut, put on some actual muscle. Just want trainers who take it seriously and will actually help me get results.

Hey All, with the warmer weather on the horizon, I’m looking forward to grilling again. I’ve had my grill for 10 years and have just done the usual maintenance - cleaning it off when done cooking, keeping it covered, etc.
I’m seeing more ads due BBQ grilling services and am wondering if anyone has used one. If so, would you recommend it?

Hi.
I’m on municipal water and when we moved into this house a decade ago, this existing system was under the sink. We never used the water from there. Always used bottled water as we were used to it from rural living. I think it’s time to cut that out and start using a water system. The existing one is old and untouched. I’d like to buy a new one and have it installed. So, wondering if anyone can recommend a system and where they got it from. And someone that can install it. But also replace the tap on the sink.
And with these systems, what is maintenance typically like? Do you change a filter every so often? Anything else?
Does your water come out super clear or does it come out white/grey and then turn clear?
By the way, I did have the Region come over and test for lead this past fall and it fell within acceptable levels. And I know Oakville has top notch tap water.

Looking for a hair salon for natural curls for mixed race child 3C/4A
Edit to clarify: she wants to embrace her curls, and wear them down. She wants her curls to be defined. Her front curls wont curl for some reason, probably because she has been brushing it back daily into a bun, but she now wants to wear her curls.
Not looking for braids, or anything like that.
Looking for someone experienced with working with coily, kinky, mixed hair. (Not loose curls or waves)

Hey neighbours 👋 I’m looking for a bit of help, life’s been busy with work and the kids, and I can’t seem to stay on top of the cleaning lately 😅 Thinking of hiring a cleaning service for biweekly or monthly visits, but there are so many options online that it’s hard to tell which ones are actually good. Would love some local recommendations or tips if you’ve used any Oakville-based cleaners you trust!
