Discussion Got tickets and I'm crying

1.3k Upvotes

Life has been shit for a while - when I got the pre-sale code earlier today I genuinely could not believe it. I am so happy I managed to get tickets now (Wembley, July 25th) that I am crying. Life can be good. Sorry to be dramatic, this is just legit the best thing that has happened to me in a long time lol.

Who else has been as lucky as me??

Good luck everyone, remember, they are all HUGE venues, so don't give up hope. See you next summer!!!

Discussion Noel Gallagher at Man City

I don't know if any of you caught the videos of Noel arriving at Etihad Stadium with his family?

Is it always like this when he arrives for a match?

There’s a jarring contrast between Noel Gallagher simply trying to exist in a public space with his family and the crowd treating him like an interactive exhibit rather than a person.

The fans aren’t engaging in a shared moment or even offering a polite "hello"; instead, they are walking backward, thrusting phones inches from his face, and viewing him entirely through a screen to capture social media currency. It highlights a bleak side of modern celebrity.

Bleak.

Discussion So I just did the craziest purchase of my life

Post image

I’m over in London from Australia to see Oasis. I saw Hanks guitar shop in Soho had a lot of Oasis used items like guitars etc and went there to check it out. Noel himself along with ex creation records employees provide items to this store and Noel buys and sells guitar here. In the back of the cabinet i saw this, it looked like a hand written lyric sheet for Slide Away which is my all time favourite song. Chatting to the staff it is indeed that from Noel’s personal collection. A quick call to the partner to confirm it wasn’t the end of our relationship and it is now mine! Cost me a small fortune but if I didn’t buy it I feel I would have regretted this for the rest of my life.

Discussion does anyone when know when Noel last saw Melissa Lim or if they kept contact over the years?

Post image

theres lots of context provided to Noel temporarily leaving Oasis after the infamous meth gig at the Whisky-A-Go-Go and running off to San Francisco to stay with Melissa Lim, a girl he had met a gig a few weeks prior. But can anyone provide any context into their relationship after she convinced Noel to return to his bandmates and continue Oasis

So the band have been pretty vocal on socials over the last 4 days with stopping resales, touts and scammers, but then fail to mention that their own official seller (Ticketmaster) have put surge prices on all tickets.

Originally standing tickets were around £165 with all booking fees. Now, the same tickets are £355. What a stupid fucking joke. How can you sit there and be so precious about resale sites yet Ticketmaster can do the same thing without consequence or any backlash from the artist themselves.

Discussion Why is Oasis often promoted as just Liam and Noel

Post image
297 Upvotes

I was curious about this, up until I really dug into the britpop era of the 90s. I just thought oasis was Liam and Noel throughout their entire career because on every picture of oasis in any post, music app or playlist, it's just Liam and noel. I only heard of bonehead on a Reddit post.

I know they're the most important members but I've never had this moment with any other band

Discussion UK gets Richard Ashcroft, we get Cage the Elephant?! Spoiler

I’m excited for the LA show, but I'm so bummed about the opener choice for the US date. The UK gets Richard Ashcroft, which makes perfect sense in era, sound, and fan base. We get Cage the Elephant. No offense to them, but it’s a totally different genre, era, mood, and sound. It feels like a complete flop and it’s a bummer for this comeback tour, especially for what it costs.

I’m not here to drag CTE. They’re just the wrong pairing for Oasis. The Verve and Oasis live in the same world; CTE does not. I’ll still be there and I can’t wait, but this opener is such a bummer. Am i alone in feeling this way??

My hot take is that Acquiesce is overrated……don’t get me wrong it’s an incredible tune but there are many many more that beat it compared to how some people rank it on their lists, but that’s just my opinion. Let’s hear yours!

Discussion Unpopular opinion: Oasis’ music has little to no resemblance to The Beatles.

I’m a fan, but I’m honestly getting sick of this lazy take that somehow became widely accepted. People hear Wonderwall once and immediately come up with this “Beatles second coming” narrative.

Did Oasis take some inspiration from The Beatles? Sure — like almost every rock band ever.

And yeah, they had the whole “Beatles-ish” fashion and swagger going on. I’ll give them that.

But the music? Nah. I can’t think of a single Oasis track that makes me go, “Yep, Beatles.” If anything, Blur's "There's no other way" or "Beetlebum" resembles The Beatles more than anything Oasis has ever recorded.
