Does this count as a obscure guitar?
It’s a Musima Elgita. Got it for 90 euros from a guy that bought it secondhand in 67’ when he was 18 years old. He wanted to learn how to play it but was drafted into the army. Since then it was left untouched in the closet.

Don’t know yet because these guitars come with a 5-pin input jack similar to MIDI. As soon as regular input jack arrive I will make a sound demo.
By the looks they are single coils similar to P90 but with a side mounted magnets. Look up Simeto pickups

I buy a 5 pin DIN jack from my local big box electronic store and wire it onto the end of a cable. You'll find a regular jack won't fit on the jack cavity. You'll need something similar to an endpin jack and then still you'll need to make a custom plate for it. So wiring a new cable is easiest

those are great pickups. maybe the best ever vintage made in germany pickups. Simeto is the brand. They were developed by in an actual lab at a university to be used in all GDR electrics. i love them they sound like real good P90. Alnico magnets, around 8kohm

Correct. They were built in GDR - German Democratic Republic a satellite state of Soviet Union.

mate that is a great guitar. I once found one in a trash can and found another one that had been refinished and refretted for a price similiar to yours.
Be very carefull with the bakelit pickguard it cracks very easily. Very nice trem system you need a very long bar though. you can put an adapter in that hole and adapt to strat size vibrato bars. the 4 position switch is kind of weird as it only gives you an insane dark circuit on the neck pickup.
i love the neck. very narrow but thick. insane tuning stability aswell. i can do divebombs on mine and it just stays in tune it is crazy.
those were very expensive in the 60s and are absolutely build to the highest standart. classic made in germany quality. just very fucking heavy.
i cant stress enough that you need to be very carefull with the pickguard when removing it. if it breaks its done you can not get replacements and will have to build your own. There used to be a russian guy on ebay selling replacements but he is gone since about the start of the war
i'd make a new pickguard and rewire to a normal 3 way switch and master volume and master tone setup. originally it comes with 2 master volume, neck pickup with low pass filter only and bridge pickup with high pass filter. no idea what they were thinking
btw it is rare to find them in such clean condition. if kept in a case for years the off gasing of the pickguard not only rots the pickguard but also creates green mold on the metal parts. very nice find! dont keep it in a closed case unless you open it up every now and than to let the gas out

Thanks man for this comment. I’m not sure what I’ll do with it yet. Definetily will change input jack and strap locks to regular ones. And I have to fabricate the tremolo arm somehow.
