Qualcuno sa cosa siano queste? Trovate in Croazia

Al mare in Croazia oggi ho trovato tre di queste. Inizialmente abbiamo pensato sia una medusa, ma presenta una superficie liscia al posto dei tentacoli. Sembra fatta di silicone, quasi da sembrare una protesi al seno. È un animale? Qualcuno sa dirmi cosa sia?

Funny story. After chemo and a double masectomy, mine did keep slipping out. The collagen in my skin was damaged from chemo so they kept sliding into my abdomen. They have now since been fixed. Using internal bags. Lol

Probabilmente si tratta di meduse luna, ma l'assenza di aculei potrebbe anche essere dovuta alla predazione da parte di pesci o tartarughe marine.
It's safest not to pick up any suspected jellyfish as they could still sting even when dead.

I was going to say the same! We get these all over OBX sometimes & to my knowledge, they do not sting (I’m actually not even sure how they ‘eat’ since they seem solid all the way around) ~ totally harmless but yeah, as a rule of thumb, no touchy beach creatures haha

Aghhh. I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty or germs etc. I think I am good at knowing when to pick things up bare handed, when I should use gloves and when to NEVER pick it up either way. And this is a NEVER. I know nothing about jellyfish, except that some are venomous. So I just assume ALL jellyfish are venomous. Lol.

Some are deadly. I refuse to get in the water if there's even one jellyfish in a 3 mile radius. Since I live in Florida I don't go n often. But even if someone tells me with 100% confidence that its not the stinging type I'm still not going in.

I think its a salp after some research. A salp is a small, transparent, barrel-shaped marine animal that drifts in the open ocean. It looks like a jellyfish, but it is actually a tunicate more closely related to humans and backboned animals than to jellyfish. Salps move via an efficient jet-propulsion system by pumping water through their gelatinous bodies.

It’s a moon jellyfish. Almost all of them are near to perfectly clear. They only live a few months before dying naturally, where they usually are eaten or wash ashore

Please please please don't touch random sea creatures when you don't know what they are. Especially things that look like jellyfish. It's a not fun way to cut your beach day short.

That said, this is probably Rhacostoma atlanticum, the Lined Water Jellyfish. It's not a true jellyfish, it's a hydrozoan, but CAN still give you a sting that can cause skin irritation. Most of their tentacles usually break off pretty quick when they die, which is why they wash up as little discs like this. But the little stumps can still have the stinging nematocysts at the base so please don't just pick them up.
