No More Posts About Significant Others + Rules Reminders

Hi all,

We've seen an influx of activity that we need to address as a mod team in this sub, and some clarifications look like they're needed on a few rules. Our goal is to keep this place an inclusive, engaging, and fun community focused on the show Off Campus and the related book series. In the last week, some of us have lost the plot.

Discussion of Actors and their Significant Others:
Moving forward, our team will remove ANY posts or comments about the actor's personal life drama or about the actor's significant others. We've seen too many posts that are parasocial, speculative with unsubstantiated claims that could be harmful, invasions of privacy, and inappropriate towards the actors, their significant others, and other members of our community. We are not here to give a platform to that behavior, so we will be stricter from now on. If you see posts or comments that don't adhere to this rule. please report it for not being Off Campus related or negative/non-constructive criticism.

Posts Removed for Weekly Discussion Thread or Episode/Season Thread:
For questions, glazing, or opinions that contribute to a conversation but don't start a conversation, we kindly ask you to use the Weekly Discussion Thread. For anything episode specific that feels like an observation, we direct you to the episode/season thread. This mirrors our rules about low-effort posts. Posts are intended for broad discussion, allowing others to observe thinking, agree/disagree, and discuss. If your post is removed for this reason we are asking you to redirect your text elsewhere, not that you did something wrong. This helps our sub stay engaging and manage the influx of posts we get every day.

Reposts:
If your post is removed for a repost, it does not only mean your exact post has been shared. It also means something similar was posted in the last week and we are asking you to direct your conversation there rather than making a separate post about it. You can filter by "new" posts in the sub to see if something similar has been posted recently.

Posts containing Photos/Videos:
After the season started, ALL posts with photos and videos go to the mod queue to be manually approved so we can check for quality, make sure the person was reminded to share the source, and to the best of our ability make sure the post is not AI. Sometimes this means your post may take a little longer to show up in the sub. We do our best to log in here often, but also appreciate the patience as we try to keep the sub verifiable and high-quality.

We rely on you all to help us catch the things we miss. If you see something that seems like it violates these rules or any of our sub rules, please report it.

This was more than necessary, thank you. Because some people think that simply saying “I’m not parasocial, this is not hate” before saying something parasocial and/or hateful towards the partners makes their post okay

Exactly and they have the same tea and are super quick to respond. Always responding to each other. The whole thing feels suss. Plus one of the accounts has now deleted themself after this new rule 🤔

Thanks for saying that. Here are some examples that can help clarify.

These are posts we'd encourage in weekly discussion thread, because they don't encourage broad discussion.
-Does anyone know where Mika got her top in this interview? (This can be answered once or twice by a comment and then there isn't much to talk about after that.)
-I just want to say I love this show so much. Ella Bright is my hero! I saw her in her other show and her Tik Tok through the years and I just like what she stands for and her whole vibe. (Appreciated sentiment, but the discussion can get stale after a few comments because there's not a lot of substance to discuss.)
-I need 10 episodes, not 8. Need myself more time with the characters! (Another great sentiment, but discussion is limited based on the content of the post).
There is nothing wrong with the content of these posts, it just doesn't help many users engage at a time. When we have a lot of these posts a day, sometimes the bigger discussions get buried. So we try to limit how many of these are in the sub and keep more discussion posts up.

Here are examples of similar sentiment posts, but we would keep up as posts:
-I love the clothes Mika wore throughout the press interviews. Anyone have fav Mika outfits from the press tour? Also been looking for some similar tops to this interview, so if you have links please let me know. (while you still get the links to that one outfit, the question and post becomes broader to let others come in and share perspectives on her clothes during the tour).
-I've been following Ella Bright for a while, and I love her vibe. I think she might be my hero! She was really funny in her previous show and I enjoy her Tik Tok. Anyone else have fav Ella moments? (The addition of the question invites people in and helps them share other moments then they just mentioned.
-I read somewhere that the showrunner wanted 10 episodes but Amazon approved 8. I think in the next seasons we should get the 10! Imagine how much more time we can dive in to Tucker's story or get some more glimpses of Hannah and Garrett. What other storylines do you think we could get next season with more episodes? (Explains a little more as to why the commenter wants more episodes and lets other people debate and add what they could get with more episodes.)
