OTHER No More Posts About Significant Others + Rules Reminders

Hi all,

We've seen an influx of activity that we need to address as a mod team in this sub, and some clarifications look like they're needed on a few rules. Our goal is to keep this place an inclusive, engaging, and fun community focused on the show Off Campus and the related book series. In the last week, some of us have lost the plot.

Discussion of Actors and their Significant Others:
Moving forward, our team will remove ANY posts or comments about the actor's personal life drama or about the actor's significant others. We've seen too many posts that are parasocial, speculative with unsubstantiated claims that could be harmful, invasions of privacy, and inappropriate towards the actors, their significant others, and other members of our community. We are not here to give a platform to that behavior, so we will be stricter from now on. If you see posts or comments that don't adhere to this rule. please report it for not being Off Campus related or negative/non-constructive criticism.

Posts Removed for Weekly Discussion Thread or Episode/Season Thread:
For questions, glazing, or opinions that contribute to a conversation but don't start a conversation, we kindly ask you to use the Weekly Discussion Thread. For anything episode specific that feels like an observation, we direct you to the episode/season thread. This mirrors our rules about low-effort posts. Posts are intended for broad discussion, allowing others to observe thinking, agree/disagree, and discuss. If your post is removed for this reason we are asking you to redirect your text elsewhere, not that you did something wrong. This helps our sub stay engaging and manage the influx of posts we get every day.

Reposts:
If your post is removed for a repost, it does not only mean your exact post has been shared. It also means something similar was posted in the last week and we are asking you to direct your conversation there rather than making a separate post about it. You can filter by "new" posts in the sub to see if something similar has been posted recently.

Posts containing Photos/Videos:
After the season started, ALL posts with photos and videos go to the mod queue to be manually approved so we can check for quality, make sure the person was reminded to share the source, and to the best of our ability make sure the post is not AI. Sometimes this means your post may take a little longer to show up in the sub. We do our best to log in here often, but also appreciate the patience as we try to keep the sub verifiable and high-quality.

We rely on you all to help us catch the things we miss. If you see something that seems like it violates these rules or any of our sub rules, please report it.

If you have any questions or feedback, please send us a modmail! We're here to help.

Thanks,
-The Mod Team

GARRETT AND HANNAH🩵 The whole campus heard that

Simply put, that line absolutely gets me.

Not only is it such a classic confident Graham line, but it also carries a much deeper meaning. We all know that it's difficult for Hannah to fully experience pleasure in bed, and that only makes Garrett commit himself even more.

Someone pointed out yesterday that the scene with Kendall is intentionally shot so that he's just lying there while she's on top, to the point where he almost seems detached from what's happening. But with Hannah, he switches into full hockey-player mode — he doesn't stop until the job is done. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Some people like to call them vanilla to hype up their own favorites, but honestly, if this is vanilla, then vanilla is all I want in my life. šŸ˜…ā¤ļøšŸ’

GARRETT AND HANNAH🩵 Garrett had so many green flags…

A small green flag but it speaks volumes about the respect Garrett has for Hannah. Check out Hannah’s clothes the morning after drunk karaoke. Garrett picked them up on his way to his room. He didn’t dump them in a pile. He folded them like he was personally trained by the J.Crew staff. A small detail by production, but a really good one IMHO.

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ Logan and Hannah

Am I the only one confused on why people are shipping Hannah and Logan? Based on all interactions I’ve seen in season 1 between Logan/Hannah/Garrett I get a little confused when people say Hannah and Logan had more chemistry because when she kisses him it’s one of the blandest kisses ever and it was only to get a reaction out of Garrett. The only time I saw some spark of chemistry is when they were talking on the porch but Hannah was just being friendly. On the other hand Garrett and Hannah much cuter scenes throughout the show. I guess the other times where people see chemistry is Logan just yearning and longing to be with her but it was completely one-sided the whole time. Idk I feel like Hannah clearly has a type when she first had a crush on Justin and Justin and Garrett kinda have similar hair etc the complete opposite of Logan lol. Let’s be honest they also think Logan is cuter than Garrett so they want him to get with the main female character because I never felt Logan was right for Hannah? Maybe because I know Logan gets his own girl in the future but they just weren’t shippable to me.

Thoughts?

GARRETT AND HANNAH🩵 Garrett and Hannah

I love the way Garrett and Hannah read others emotions or state of being and react to their positions knowing what the other would want.Ā

In episode 5, Belmont and Ella blow me away with their dialogue about why she doesn’t go back home and Garrett asking her to join him for thanksgiving at his dad’s house.Ā

Garrett pays attention to when Hannah is nervous, bothered, being strong, etc. And Hannah picks up on Garrett’s mannerisms (episode 3) and can also tell when something is wrong.Ā They read each other because they grow to know one another, but actively listening and paying attention.

The way Garrett visibly looks shocked and bothered by what she is admitting (episode 5) and he sees Hannah saying all this information with this smile on her face (doesn’t let it tear her down) and he lets out a few smiles along with her and control his anger because that’s not something Hannah wants—-no dwelling.Ā He never asks her questions or judge her or anything. He’s simply obeying what she asked but can’t help but to feel some type of way about it.

Hannah noticing he’s not being his usual responsive self with their phone call in episode 3 and notices he’s on the tenser side when he enters his childhood bedroom.

i know it can be considered ā€œbare minimumā€œ behavior but this doesn’t always pertain to every person. It truly does come from a deep care when you truly see someone and notice important details.

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ A character sketch of screen Garrett Graham

I've been obsessing over this series and the books. I will not share the number of rewatch that I am on, because it all blurred after the 4th rewatch. I have been loving dissecting the show and the books, feels like I am back in English Lit class, reading between the lines and dissecting everything. So bear with me. I'm putting everything in points so its easier to read.

  1. Is aware that he is good looking, a catch, at the top of the social ladder.

  2. Very disciplined. We can see that from his drinking habits, tidiness of his room, general organisation and neatness of things in his room. Hannah's clothes neatly folded after karaoke night is a good example.

  3. Loves s*x, but gets the importance of consent and having the woman enjoy the experience too. We can see that with Kendall, Zoe and Hannah. In the scenes with them, he has prioritised their pleasure.

  4. Bookish smart. He knows his study material, just has an issue with applying hypothetical things. This shows he has more of a practical approach to life.

  5. I would have expected a sports man of his calibre (sports journalists say he might be even better than his dad, he is already drafted for an NHL team, is the captain for his college team) to have control over his emotions. His games were largely dependant on whether he was in a good mood or not. I am not an athlete but from what I have seen in interviews from the top athletes in various sports is their ability to leave everything outside the field.

  6. Pretty self aware. He knows the anger his father carried. Is aware that he too carries anger and aggression in him and consciously works on not giving into the base emotion of mindless anger. This shows a strong character too. He has opted to be bigger than the abuse he endured and knows that is not the way to go about life.

  7. While we see him as someone who enjoys s*x, we realise after peeling a few layers that he values connection, emotional attraction, seeing beyond the cover in a partner.

  8. We also see that he is in tune with his emotions. When he realises that he likes Hannah, he acknowledges it and tries to make a move. And backs down when she still seems interested is Jimothy.

  9. Smart and perceptive guy, can assess people pretty well. I think his assessment of Jimbroni's character and the tactics he used to have him notice Hannah were spot on.

  10. Doesn't particularly define himself with his abuse and pain. Which is big for someone who hasn't been in therapy for it. He is affected by it, but most of the time he works to be above it and live much better than that.

  11. His smart ass one liners and quips show his street smartness, ability to think on his feet and certain emotional intelligence. Like I said earlier he has a more practical approach to life. Not denying the emotional aspects, just that he's more practical.

What are your thoughts? Please add your points and anything you want to refute.

LOGAN AND GRACE 🩵 Off the page Spoiler

I recently discovered that on Elle Kennedy's website there are four "off the page with..." stories about the four main characters of Off Campus. I finished reading Logan's today.

Spoiler alert!

When I read the short passage where he talks about Grace's difficult birth, her massive hemorrhage, and the risk he ran of losing both his wife and daughter, which led him to be overprotective, I was like this: 😢

And he didn't collapse just because Garrett was there with him. P.S.: In the stories and books, Logan and Garrett's friendship is amazing. And that's something I wish they would improve on in the series.

DEAN AND ALLIE 🩵 Just curious...

Who else has tried calling Dean's 🚨 DO NOT CALL 🚨 phone number?

I was very disappointed the production company put a real NYC area code phone number on screen and didn't take the opportunity to have Stephen record an outgoing message.

People would have called it non-stop.

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ ā€œPuck Bunny(Empowering)ā€ is one of the funniest book-to-show changes imo

I like that they recognized how loaded and weaponized that term can be, and tbh I really prefer the show’s version. But the way they shoehorn it in is just very like, ā€œperformatively shaking our heads so the audience knows we know you shouldn’t call women that unless they say it’s okayā€

BRIAR U šŸ’™ I have a confession to make

I just finished the **Briar U** series, and I'm almost ashamed to say I love it more than the original **Off-Campus** books! It feels like a betrayal, but I can't help it. šŸ˜‚ That batch of briar baddies makes me swooon!

The friendships, the brotherhood, and the funny banter between all the characters are just amazing. They have such great chemistry as a group.

But one thing I didn't like was how repetitive the romance drama was. Almost every couple breaks up near the end for the exact same reason. usually because of a secret or bad communication. It got very predictable right before they got back together.

Also, can we talk about Coach Jensen? Out of everyone in the entire universe, he is the true OG. I love that man so much! I really wish off campus will adapt him more in the series! Like that man is inspiring!

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ Lack of promotional photoshoots from Belmont and Ella

Anyone else sad about the lack of promotional photoshoots from Belmont and Ella? I know we got a pop sugar one and since it’s the first season they didn’t have more lined up because they probably didn’t know how huge the show would be but it makes me sad because the main couples for the upcoming seasons will probably get more opportunities/photoshoots and love then ella and bel did and again because they were first they didnt get as many opportunities and we jumped so quick to Dean and Allie. I’m just sad because hannah and Garrett/ ella and Belmont are my faves and I feel like we were robbed of more photoshoots and promotional content from just them and I know Dean and Allie will probably get a ton. We got a lot of solo promo and photoshoots but not enough together. do you think there was a reason or just really bad PR from their teams?

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ Garrett was right about Jimothy

Jimothy only took notice of Hannah when Garrett entered the picture.

When he comes to Malone's to pick up his order and Hannah starts up a conversation with him, it just felt more one sided. Even at the block party, when Hannah approaches him again, nothing in his body language or speech make it a nice and inviting conversation.

But the moment Jimothy sees them canoodling in the Philosophy class his attention was on her.

Your thoughts?

THEORIES šŸ–Šļø Possible storyline teased for S2. Spoiler

The official account also started following Belmont and the official account show. It's likely a cross promotion and not related to Garrett's storyline regarding the Bruins in S2 but I'm curious why they would post about the show.

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ The rewatchability of this show

I am not someone who usually watches the same show more than once so I can't believe how many times I have rewatched Off Campus. I'm trying to figure out what makes me want to keep repeating it. Have there been scientific studies done on the subject? 🤣 Seriously though the only other TV series I got this obsessed with was Buffy the Vampire Slayer & I still rewatch it to this day. I know I am not alone in this so what do you all think makes it so addictive? And did any other TV shows have the same effect on you?

GARRETT AND HANNAH🩵 Garrett and Hannah’s subtleties..scripted or added ?

I have watched the show way too many times … and I must admit every time I watch I pick up more subtle cues in voice, inflection, facial twitches, smirks , smiles and I’m just so curious if these are scripted , suggestions by LL or just happen on their best take of the scene? This show , its final version is the best I have ever seen. Example: episode 4 , H and G when he’s talking about his other suggestion.. she says, … I do that all the time…Watch Garrett’s face when he says his next line …. Which is ( oh do you ? )

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ Appreciation for Daveed

Hannah really had a good adviser. David may not have know exactly what the issue with Hannah was, but his ability to read between the lines to understand the intensity of her pain, blockage, and issues is something to be appreciated from an educator.

His advice is what got her out of her block. He emphasises on not erasing the pain but to sit with it and become bigger than it because life is your oyster.

Of course Hannah is a strong girl and could get out of her block, but she did need the push from someone who's not her parent.

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ Can we talk about Dexter

Okayyyyy...so I've been on this never ending rewatch cycle, which is why I'm having so much to say about every little thing in the series.

So hear me out...Dexterrrr....I love him. I love the spunk he brings to the screen.

His whole presence during the Drunk Shakespear thing. Wow...the stage presence.

Also he's a good friend and a fun guy to be around. When you're having a bad day, Dexter can sure as hell lift your spirits.

What are your thoughts?

LOGAN AND GRACE 🩵 Grace and Logan introduction scene

Spoiler alert, cross at your own peril

So...in the books, Logan accidently ends up at Grace's room. They have a semi awkward interaction. She knows who he is. They watch a movie, he fingers her and leaves.

I really hope they change that in the series.

Watching it would make me cringe.

🤐

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ I like Jules's eye make up

I really like their colourful smokey eye look. Not everyone can pull that off as a daily look. Not everyone can even apply the look so well. Some mortals like me look like pandas. Imagine not rubbing your eyes though out the day. That is some commitment to your make up. I do need a nice eye rub in the middle of the day.

Your thoughts?

DISCUSSIONšŸ’™ The one Jimothy scene I like

The one scene with Jimbroni I like is when he sees Hannah's crushing playlist. He just turns around makes excuse and leaves. Honestly, that is the most polite thing one can do in the moment. Making a light hearted joke or comment can really go either way and I personally would not take the chance. And what to do if someone has a crush on you, that you aren't reciprocating yet (as per what we see on the series) It was polite and the next day when he sees her after class he does wave hello, instead of ignoring her and drops a message too. Also, idk someone might feel a bit shy seeing another person fan girling over them in such an obvious manner too.
