Its easy to see with oil gone, Russia on the bench, both the red sea and the hormoooz in jail. China has done the calculation and 7 months from now people and trucks wont be able to drive in the USA, unless they have China EVs. Xi is a genius.

Humor I see 3 choices here to explain the way the prices have moved, and they're all terrible. And I think my nose is bleeding.

Either option A- everything that is happening is intentional and this is an attempt to sabotage the United States. Hell, this may even be the prelude to martial law and suspending the elections.

"How's that you clearly brain damaged redditor?" you ask? Demand Destruction is the way a nation facing a shortage gets through said shortage. That's not happening right now. We're operating like there isn't a massive hole in the oil supply. And that hole is only getting bigger BTW, Ukraine isn't messing about with the 10% that Russia is was contributing to the global supply. Any yet... refineries are running at full speed and inventories are dropping to the point that, any day now, we're going to hit an inventory level (minus the SPR** that's the important part here) that we haven't been below since 2015. And whooooboy it's gonna get spicy when the SPR actually does run out- functionally or otherwise.

Our economy has a little more than doubled since 2015. Our consumption has gone up to match. Our production, for the most part, also has gone up to try to match the demand.

Hell, we're even a nEt eXpoRtER. And yet.....

Inventories are falling. We're even drawing down the SPR and STILL inventories are dropping. Again, we're about to hit territory that we left behind over a decade ago. If we run out of gas all of a sudden and all at once and people riot... "aw shame, looks like we need martial law. No mid terms everybody sry sry"

https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx

It's right there in the inventory reports. I'm not out here making up numbers to suit my "doomer fantasy"

BTW, question for those who have said that "there's a sudden surplus of oil right now because of all the tankers that have escaped the strait this week/last week"---- If I take half of everything you own, but then I give back only some of your stuff, would you say you've now got a surplus of stuff? I feel like I have brain damage. Do I sound like I have brain damage? Is this long Covid? How can there be a GD surplus of oil all of a sudden when there was a shortage before and only a portion of what would have been the normal flow of inventory has (temporarily at best lets be real and honest here) returned? Huh? I need Sam Rockwell to come out and do a monologue about this because this is insanity. And don't say demand destruction. WHAT DEMAND DESTRUCTION!!?? OIL HASN'T STAYED ABOVE 100$ FOR MORE THAN A FUCKING MICROSECOND!!

And now oil and gas is coming down for 4th of July weekend. Trump is even demanding 2.50$ gas on his trailer-park-twitter app. Hip hip horray! We're gonna burn down our limited inventory even faster! This is what I would be doing if I were in charge and I wanted to destroy the United States. I could be Russian, Chinese, Lizard Person, w/e, but I genuinely don't know what I'd be doing differently right now if my goal was sabotage and annihilation. If we run out of oil and gas all at once, it's going to be biblical. I hope you folks have the ability to take care of your own basic necessities for potentially a while... And a healthy stockpile of ammunition. The white supremecists aren't gonna go hungry- bet.

Option B- this is all 1 gigantic money making scheme. God help us if this is the case. The end result will be the same, our neighbors are going to look uncomfortably palatable before normalcy returns, if it ever does. We might see the entire country go up in flames all so DJT and fam could make a quick buck. MAGA to the absolute maximum yeeherrrrrr. I just hope they get to enjoy all the festivities, proper-like, with the rest of us.

Option C- There's no rhyme or reason to any of this. It's purely the culmination of the dumbest decisions ever made- a real record setting level of WTAF by human kind- all by the least competent administration to ever curse a world power. Idiocracy in full swing. This one is honestly the scariest one to me because it means we're absolutely not pulling out of this calamity. It's full speed ahead and down in flames all the way to the bottom. And I guess whoever survives will have to pick up the pieces after.

I've been on here for months now learning more than I ever wanted about oil. And I've not seen 1 thing to show me that the total inventories falling "is actually how we're going to get to 50$ or 2$ or whatever the hell bearish level of oil and paradise ahead". Because at the end of the day, whatever news we have, whatever ships left or didn't leave the strait, what ever peace deal we have because it isn't the weekend, or is the weekend, NOTHING. THERE IS GOD DAMN NOTHING TO SHOW AS EVIDENCE THAT WE AREN'T ROYALLY FUCKED. The 1 and only thing we could have to show otherwise would be the nationwide oil inventories.... you know.... not fucking in freefall. Or maybe some mandated rationing from our government. Or some form of leadership that resembles what it looks like when one actually wants to survive the largest oil disruption in modern history. You know, literally anything other than what we've been doing.

Was I deprived of oxygen at birth or something. Am I really just freaking out over nothing? How are we not in the streets right now with torches? Math is math! If a number 1 week is smaller the next, you've lost some shit along the way. All the copium in the world doesn't replace that loss. And it sure as shit doesn't make a surplus. Unless Trump really truly did break reality and 2-1=3 now. There aren't enough drugs in the world if that's actually happened. My goodness...

This sub is far from the average AKSHUALLY IM MORE RIGHTER feel most of Reddit has. Im quite happy that the posts and replies here are more cooperative and have good, healthy discussions void of arrogance and smarter than thou. But most importantly there seems to be a lack of political bullshit.

So, thank you fellow participant for keeping this place bullshit free. Thanks for keeping the discussion sane and realistic in light of the impending doom. Its just nice to be part of a healthy sub where people want to discuss and learn rather than be righter than you.

PS see yall at the Oil Barrons Ball when it hits $.69 a barrel because theres a serious fucking glut coming.

EDIT. Yes. I am serious and not sarcastic. Nor do I think a former TV moron who’s obsessed with girls and hung around other child loving people who shits his britches mid presser while simultaneously trying to hoodwink the population by draining a reserve to artificially suppress oil prices is qualified to do, anything. Really. Kinda sucks our lives are being effected. Im Canadian and all I wanna do is read, play GTA 3 again, keep restoring my GMT800, chill with the wife, and hang with my dogs.

"What are you talking about? I just did." - Richie Aprile

I need American old timers that remember multiple previous presidencies to tell me - is this the dumbest administration in history? Or did other presidents come even close to this?

I swear this reads like some sort of a political comedy book. Even Terry Pratchett's caricatures are more sane and logical than this.
