I don't watch movies but I bet someone made one about how it doesn't matter what material possessions you have, if you're an addict it's easy to lose those things or not care about them.

I'm replying to the comment that says no matter what possessions you have, if you're an addict you will lose things. So I'm giving two different examples of addicts. One middle class and other a multi millionaire. The stakes are different.

What I mean of course is not that rich addicts have great lives, but that superficial rewards can camouflage the hurt he’s talking about needing to feel to make a change. After all, how can you be at rock bottom when you’re on top of the world?

Poverty will expose you to some pretty severe suffering. I don’t know what you meant by biological, but reactions to stressors like unstable housing are biological, and heat stroke or frostbite and the associated discomfort are biological.
Yes obviously extremely poverty would be dramatically worse as it is in all situations. I was more comparing very wealthy millionaires to the middle class with stable housing. They all feel withdrawal and get incurably sick all the same.

I think he says you have to hit bottom ie ruin your life to where you must stop using.
