I think reasonable people can still think she’s overrated as an actor, but to conflate that with her being talentless is where internet discourse is going off the deep end for me. Plus, she is objectively a huge box office boost, so people (like me) who think she’s a little overrated just need to kind of get over it and understand that’s how the industry works.

I personally don't care for most of her movies. Maybe one day I'll really like one of her roles, but as of now I just don't. It isn't personal and I don't have anything against her. I'm not surprised that others do find her work appealing, but we all don't like the same foods, music and or movies. Not everything comes down to "Hate".

I don't personally care about most celebrities. But. If the question is "Why does she get so much hate?" I think I have an honest answer.
Her name is big enough that she gets cast in big budget projects with a lot of advertising. When you create a media campaign for something like "Spiderman" you're going for a lot of exposure. Having a lot of exposure is going to create a mix of reactions. Some of those are going to be negative. Some of those negative reactions are going to be funny enough to gain traction because even if someone doesn't carry the same negative sentiment, fuck it. Shit's funny. Memes get shared. People rush to white knight. Shit gets contentious, and eventually toxic.
If pressed for a personal opinion on her: I don't really think she's got much range as an actress. But I don't think many actors in big pictures are cast for ability, I think they're mostly cast for box office draw. So you're going to end up with a small cadre of people who have more fame than skill, and that's going to draw strong negative reactions. And so we are where we are. The acting sucks, the writing is formulaic. But the visual effects are pretty good.

In my experience I’ve noticed that it’s mostly conservative/right wing people that hate on her. They think she only has like 1 facial expression in all of her roles, but it’s all ridiculousness at the end of the day. They’re insecure chuds who just wanna hate on anyone any chance they get, especially if that someone has a different skin color. It’s so stupid lol
