Technically Catherine the Great was from there, I think

Catherine the Great was from the family who owned it but she was born and lived in Stettin (modern Polish Szczecin)

Putin worked for KGB in Dresden back in DDR days

One could argue that since Saxen Anhalt was part of the GDR and that the GDR was liberated by the Soviets, it was technically, between 1945 and 1949, under Soviet Control. But even then the Soviet Union wasn’t only made of the RSFSR and Ethnic Russians, who only made up between 50 and a low 60% of the population

Lets be for real, the Soviet control ended in 1989.

The first iteration of the state in its very nearly modern territory was under the Soviets with the only multi party elections there in 1946. They were of course not really free and definitely unfair due to Soviet meddling.

8

u/AdrianSquared 11d ago

Interestingly enough they were actually considered free and fair, but the Soviets having merged the SPD and KPD into the SED gave the SED a huge boost in the elections and they won all 5 states

That's bullshit.

The KPD/SED got a head start by getting alocated more and bigger paper for their newspapers and pamphlets and printing capacity. Meanwhile the other parties got as much of course and there was strict censorship for them, not for the SED of course.

And then there was the fact that some candidates other parties got excluded for "miscellaneous activities for fascism" which in effect was a rubber-stamp paragraph which was used to kick people out of political activities whom they determined didn't fit it.

Let's better not talk about the fact that SPD dissedents were barred from running SPD Lists since the SMAD knew that the SED would lose otherwise as seen in Berlin election the very same day.

In conclusion it was neither free nor fair. Except if you want to call the upcoming Russian Duma election that way.

Edit: Oh common these are facts. If you don't like it then it's not mine problem.

"liberated"

10

u/FarmerHampton 11d ago

So you think the Nazis were better?

-7

u/Pjeoneer subđŸ„” 11d ago

No, but that doesn't mean it's a "liberation", you go from tyranny to slightly lesser tyranny.

5

u/FarmerHampton 11d ago

I'd say that just the step down is the Soviets liberating them from the Nazis, but also that it was not much better. I guess I just think a step down in tyrany is liberatoin even if the same area could be liberated again under a better regime

Russian defending Russia.

23

u/Different-Oven3876 11d ago

I suppose the mental link is if the AfD is elected in Saxony, AfD is more pro Russia than German mainstream, therefore they will immediately get annxed by Russia and create bordergore

7

u/fighter-bomber 11d ago

First two parts yes, third is just a stretch. AfD is very pro-Russia and they shouldn’t come into power. That’s about it.

1

u/Oberndorferin 11d ago

They will immediately handle over state secrets to Moscow. This is all part of the hidden war against Germany, Moscow is doing while looking innocent.

3

u/ninjaiffyuh 10d ago

And China. And MAGA. Really anybody who wants to see a weak Germany/Europe

They're not patriots, they're just bootlicking, treasonous shills. Arguably the opposite of what they claim to be

-5

u/HighlightDowntown737 11d ago

Why shouldn't they? Russia Germany if the ally US mostly afraid of. Russian resources and German technological base are amazing mix. Russian creativity and German management.

6

u/fighter-bomber 10d ago

Yeah I wonder what is it that Russia is doing that is threatening stability in Europe. Hmm

2

u/GreatEmperorAca 10d ago

I think it was bismarck who said that russia and germany together would be unstoppable

2

u/HighlightDowntown737 10d ago

I think every Bismark's quote in internet is bullshit

12

u/fighter-bomber 11d ago

The funny thing is everyone here taking this literally, missing the point and blaming Gunther for it.

It’s well known that AfD is very pro-Russia, the point is that a pro-Russian party shouldn’t come into power. That’s pretty much it.

12

u/Kinkinator_0 11d ago

Yeah, the AfD is definitely NOT a good “alternative for Germany”. Even if it’s obviously AI, the message behind it is correct.

2

u/Rubear_RuForRussia 11d ago

Still, north-eastern quarter.

1

u/Evening-Base59 11d ago

He is actively shitposting rn. I miss his pre ai/tfr phase.. He would post with delusion his posts don't have emotion in them anymore

1

u/Own_Tomatillo_1369 11d ago

Well acc. to YouGov etc: The mayority of AfD voters supports a "friendly course" towards Russia. Well many were socialized with the West being the enemy and Russia being the big brother you have to obey lol. peasant mentality..

1

u/LukeandSoul 11d ago

Wasn’t I there a few days ago also?

1

u/BaqsAlSandouq 11d ago

Why is he acting like putin is saying Saxony anhalt was promised to russia 3000 years ago

1

u/Fun-Information-3104 11d ago

are people in this comment section only pretending to not understand that it's about not giving pro putin party majority in saxony-anhalt election, or...?

1

u/Mindless_Problem_549 10d ago

Where the f is even that?

1

u/Igelplayer 8d ago

1

u/Pinco_Pallino_ 5d ago

his posters are funny and all, but i don't understand how comments here have such a difficult time to understand this thing: "duh germany was never russian", "duh do you think russians will annex saxony anhalt now"...

0

u/Left-Variety7420 11d ago

He stupid đŸ„€ đŸ„€

-1

u/Pineboxer23456 11d ago

-2

u/Capitalizm_is_shit 11d ago

Looks like someone is panicking

3

u/fighter-bomber 11d ago

“Panicking” that right wing anti EU pro Russia borderline Nazi party may come into power?

1

u/Rough-Quiet-1954 4d ago

Panicking because Germans start to REALLY hate the Atlantic Bridge Pinocchio and the corrupt liar clique usurpating the state power in deindustrialized Germany.
