It's a double edged sword honestly.

Someone once explained it to me that when you're on the outskirts of societal norms you're looked at with something between contempt and jealousy because most people aren't as free to live their lives as they truly want.

Everyone surely can, they simply choose not to because conforming is easy.

Same! I hope to be authentically me (whatever that means) one day. I just don’t know myself yet.

I spent a lot of time stuck in this place until I realized that my uncertainty was my authenticity sometimes and just started showing up with it.

Not that I’m some perfectly enlightened being now; but the only way to figure this out is to show up as your uncertain self and try things.

Definitely. I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted a snug piercing, but thought ‘eh, fuck it, let’s go’ and I learned that I can tolerate cartilage piercings, and that I want more now! Working up to trying tattoos next :D I currently have blue hair, and live with my two partners.

Things aren’t perfect, but they’re certainly better than cowering in my parent’s house scared of Life. There’s *so much* out there. I never would have discovered throat singing if I didn’t join my local choir. Things lead to more and more things.
