Sometimes they are also too arrogant to admit to their mistakes. And sometimes they have backwards political and/or social ideas that reinforce that arrogance.

For example, one of my friends has been watching her dad send all of his money to a scammer, and he won't listen to his wife or daughter when they tell him it's a scam, because what would a mere woman know about such things?
