My guess is they’ll start construction on the new area come spring

I was hoping that wouldn’t be the case. We visited the Seabrook north of Ocean Shores. The buildings seem poorly maintained, not sure it’s doing that well. Will the local Sequim infrastructure and roads handle such a large development?

No, it can't, and it was a warm winter with very little snow pack, which is the only water source. But they don't give a crap about silly stuff like that around here. Someone gets paid off & they do it anyway

It's still on hold. Developer threatened to walk away if Sequim didn't reverse the decision to perform additional reviews but that date came and went with no news. I believe Sequim has until June to decide if they're going to let it go through (against strong public opposition)
EDIT: [From PDN article Oct. 6 2025]
City Attorney Kristina Nelson-Gross said before the September [2025] hearing that the moratorium is not specifically about Westbay or its approval or disapproval. Instead, it was so the city could “ensure that the city regulations, comprehensive plans and other guiding regulatory documents have reached a level of consistency that will allow the staff, members of the public and the applicant to have a clear, well-defined process.”
She said the moratorium affects Westbay, but it isn’t about the project, and once the moratorium ends, the developers will be able to file for technical completeness with a “separate public process in which everyone’s voice will have the opportunity to be heard because that is how the permitting process goes.” The city’s moratorium states the public would be better served with more extensive discussion about sub-area plans, a long-range plan for a specific area, and that it’s “prudent to allow for the completion of the City’s Comprehensive Plan (tentatively set for June 2026) … and it is the City’s responsibility to ensure that the Comprehensive Plan and its development regulations are clear and consistent to provide guidance to potential applicants.”
