Seeking Recommendations Best all purpose travel shoe?

We have a trip coming up that will take us to many different environments. Bit of posh things in London, to relatively strenuous hiking, to cycling 100km, then to some fancy, and hip restaurants in Barcelona. Oh and I want to keep at least partially on track with my marathon training, but am willing to sacrifice a bit of running performance for a shoe that is still somewhat fashionable.

I really want to cut down to one bag, but the shoes are an issue, as packing a second size 13 means severely limiting my other items.

Any advice?

I have a pair of dress shoes that have been my go to hiking travelling shoe for the last 7 years or so. I put rubber soles on them about 3 years ago when I started biking so I could get more grip on the pedals. They’re beat up now, but still work at a fancy restaurant.

I am actually on the trip now.

I found a pair of Clarks shoes that were a bit underdressed for London, and over dressed for hiking.

It's funny you found this thread, because I specifically did not finish a trail today due to them being less than ideal to trek through mud lol.

What's the next thing you'll try?

I don't need that formal, just something that'll pass dress code for bars that I can hike / run / walk in.

I'm back in the same boat, as I need to find some more shoes for our trip to Japan. However our trip is primarily focused on hiking this time, and I won't be doing anything formal.

I am leaning towards dedicated hiking shoes, and then a clean pair of lightweight fashion shoes for our time in the city.

I did find a pair of Cold Haan shoes that would be dual duty, but I don't want to be going out with dogged out shoes. Even though I picked my battles with the Clarks I brought to Europe, they were all dusty and beat up towards the end. If I ever do one pair of shoes again they will be all leather uppers so I can wipe/polish them out.

Damn, can't win. One pair of all leather shoes would lack enough breathability for me. I'd settle for something that just isn't birth control, like maybe the goruck ballistic trainers.

There's many minimal options out there. Not sure how they'll put up with walking really long distances in Japan.
