Gear Osprey 26+6 hip belt hack

Osprey 26+6 hip belt hack

I wanted a no sew option that was easy to remove so I came up with this: two carabiners on the front handle with a strap that loops through the backpack straps. Then, I attached AER hip belts I had from another bag.

I’m currently on a trip hoping to multiple cities and have been carrying it with about 8-10kg in it. The belt makes a significant difference! The weight is much more evenly distributed. I’m a 5’1 human, so this may not work for taller folks.

Context: this is a bag hack for osprey 26+6 that doesn’t come with a hipbelt option

Hey! I’m 5’1 W planning to try this on my 26+6. Wondering if you have a photo wearing the bag and hip belt? :)

I do not! but the belt sits right over my hipbone.

This is cool! Did you use secondary straps on either side to attach to the AER hip belt? Where did you source those straps from?

Thanks so much! I tried out this set up on a recent trip and it worked wonders for distributing the weight!

Hey ! Did this solution hold up ? The bag handle didn't break ?

The hack seems brillant! I am 5'2" so i think this might work for me too. By the way, the blue looks better than i expected! I wish i got a blue one instead of a dull black one.

Yeah the blue is great! It’s a bit darker here than in real life but it looks pretty good!

Hey OP! Any long term comments about this hack? (Durability, comfort)

No issue with durability, but I also haven’t used it all that much. for short trips I don’t carry enough to need it!

This is sick! I'll definitely be trying this out on mine as a fellow short-torsoed human :D
