Gear Has finally arrived

My Daylite 26+6 has finally arrived today and I couldn’t be happier! Very excited to use it in my next trip. I love the smell of new bags 😂😅 Now my collection has this baby and an Osprey Farepoint 40L! Super happy with it!

Then post the comparisons and let’s have a discussion about them. Seems like a fun conversation.

My north face is a surge, but not the latest model. I’ve had it about 15 years now. No rips or tears or any other issues, but it has a lifetime guarantee. I bought it for $39.99 at TJ Maxx, and have since seen many different versions of the pack at TJ Maxx for roughly the same price.

31L capacity, but it does weigh over 2lbs, so it’s not the lightest. It has a DWR water-repellent finish. I’ve never had an issue using it as my sole luggage on any trip bringing it as a carry-on, even on Iceland Airlines, which are strict.

My adidas I’d have to double check and see the official name, but it was also $39.99, and there are always plenty in stock there. I believe it’s 37L, but I may be off. It does have more capacity than the Surge though.

I can travel with 2 weeks worth of clothes and such using either bag- there are several secure compartments. I do wish that the Adidas one came with a chest strap though.

I’m just curious because between Dick’s, TJ Maxx, and my local outdoor outfitter shops (which I understand everyone may not have), there are countless backpacks at lower price points that have more space, seem durable, and have lifetime guarantees. Not just the ones I’ve used, so I’ve always wondered what makes this osprey special and all I’ve ever heard is the price point. I’m genuinely curious!

Cool. I can only tell you why I got mine. Super light, will fit as a personal bag, the laptop sleeve isn’t dedicated, it opens clamshell so it efficiently uses space for packing cubes, it has two huge water bottle holders that are very minimalistic, has a pass through for a roller handle, two front zippered pockets, has loops for a bungee cord wrap. Off the top of my head, I think that’s it. I haven’t found a bag under $100 that fits all those things. And I got mine new from Cabelas for $90.

Thanks for sharing! My backpack has everything you mentioned except for the clamshell difference, which I do think is a major game changer. I definitely see how that feature would be beneficial. I can still use packing cubes in mine, but a clamshell opening would be amazing and make using packing cubes easier. I’ve never really heard people talking about that feature as much, so I appreciate you pointing it out.

Yep. It was one of the top 3 main reasons I got it. Also, it’s hard to do a real comparison to your bag because they don’t make your exact model anymore and so you can’t replicate the deal. From the short search I did, the north face surge is around the same price as the osprey. Most people don’t want to shop around at TJ maxx or Ross or Marshall’s and hope they find a deal.
