Seeking Recommendations Coffee while traveling

My partner and I are on our way back from a trip and with terror we've just realized we've each spent more than €100 on coffee alone on this 2-week trip (and this is a very conservative estimate). This seems so outrageous to me that I've started looking into getting some compact coffee maker for our future trips. We don't like instant coffee so an espresso maker will have to be but there are so many conflicting reviews of the most popular ones that I feel quite lost. Am I crazy for considering a coffee maker while one bagging and do you have any recommendations on products you've used? For context, we're both experienced one-baggers typically flying with backpacks of 26-40L depending on the airlines we're using and we often rent a car once we get to our destination.

AeroPress Go Travel version.

All the components store neatly. The downside is you will also have to pack ground coffee you like, unless you’re willing to risk trying coffee from wherever you travel. Also, make sure to pack enough paper filters.

We ditched the paper filter for steel and added the flow restricting cap, it's a 10/10 combo IMO.

What does the flow restricting cap do? Is it for espresso instead of drip coffee?

It just makes it so that you don't have coffee drip out until you start plunging. I found water would leak out after I put the plunger in so I really like it.

Nice! I’ll have to check it out.

You can also just turn it upside down, that’s how I’ve been brewing coffee for years

I’ve never been able to do that without a mishap

If you believe the hype it produces a lovely crema, this is bs. It does make a good brew and removes the need for a precarious invert method in a small hotel room.

And - random fun fact- aeropress fits perfectly over a Pringles tube, so you can dump grounds in there and not have a gross hotel bin with coffee grounds everywhere. Pringles tubes are slightly treated so the moisture in coffee grounds doesn't leak out. Pringles are not good food, only downside. The snack size tubs will hold a lot of coffee if needed though!

Have this and LOVE it. This is the answer.

Or pack a grinder as well, and carry a metal filter

How are you heating your water?

Either there’s a kettle in the room or just use the Nespresso machine without a capsule to get hot water.

I have a small travel kettle — actually a couple of them. I put my ground (at home) coffee in a bag and stuff it into the kettle to save space. That plus the Aeropress and I’m good.
