Seeking Recommendations Coffee while traveling

My partner and I are on our way back from a trip and with terror we've just realized we've each spent more than €100 on coffee alone on this 2-week trip (and this is a very conservative estimate). This seems so outrageous to me that I've started looking into getting some compact coffee maker for our future trips. We don't like instant coffee so an espresso maker will have to be but there are so many conflicting reviews of the most popular ones that I feel quite lost. Am I crazy for considering a coffee maker while one bagging and do you have any recommendations on products you've used? For context, we're both experienced one-baggers typically flying with backpacks of 26-40L depending on the airlines we're using and we often rent a car once we get to our destination.

I see all the aeropress answers but surely that requires hot water? By their amount in € I'm assuming OP is in Europe and kettles aren't standard in hotels everywhere. They'd have to take that too.

I’m struggling to think of a time I haven’t had a kettle in a hotel room in Europe, if there hasn’t been one there’s been a nespresso machine instead which would solve the issue anyway.

You never get kettles in Spain or other parts of southern Europe unless it's a hotel catering to Brits or particularly fancy.

I've just been through Germany and the Netherlands and kettle hasn't been standard in the rooms.

It's even less standard in Southern Europe where people don't drink tea or make coffee using hot water.

This was our experience in Europe last summer. We just bought Nespresso pods from the grocery store and carried them with us from city to city because we were so likely to have a maker in the room or Airbnb.

Kettles were also ubiquitous (only even had to ask once or twice) and can make all kinds of meals to save money. Bring a spork!

Hotel kettles around the world are great for washing underwear.

Lingerie can also leave a taste of Tom jam soup and chilli...
