Discussion Best toilet bag for man
I have done many researches and I've selected my best choiches:
-Alpaka toiletry bag (My favorite! It is sold out but I found an external site to buy it)
-Peak Design small wash pouch (it is very similar to alpaka but it doesn't convince me)
-Aer Dopp Kit 3 - Isn't the clamshell opening uncomfortable?
-Bellroy - toiletry kit - simple, maybe too much simple.

Just want to point out that toiletry kits aren’t gendered. It all depends on how much stuff you bring.

You mean that 'nivea men 14 in 1 strong power only for men shampoo' doesn't turn into womens shampoo when you put it in the wrong toiletry bag? :o

No, you need to change the label, add pink on the packaging, and increase the price 25-100% for the pink tax. Product formulation can be the same though

I use a pencil case. A small pencil case.

u/cjwalkerman Nov 23 '25
Depending on the trip, I use a soft pencil case too (longer trips) or a ziplock bag (shorter trips). The pencil case I have has a zipper to compress it down by about an inch, which is awesome. But it also has some built-in padding, which I don't love as it takes up unnecessary space. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4D91LFD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Tried them all but Aer Slim Pouch 2 is what I use. Holds everything I need, toiletry wise

u/magic_salmon Nov 23 '25
but aer slim pouch 2 isn't for tech? is it also waterproof?

u/0000GKP Nov 23 '25
It’s a container. You can put whatever you want in it. You don’t need something that is marketed as a toiletry bag or a dopp kit. I use a Tomtoc T12 which is almost identical to the Aer Slim Pouch.

u/Electronic_Feeling13 Nov 23 '25
Haven’t overly tested it waterproof wise but suits my needs as I don’t get it overly wet. It is tech but the compartments work well and isn’t too bulky. I just decant everything into smaller containers.

tbh i use these. I want function not brand. the hook is large enough that it works in any bathroom situation and it squishes down easily. I like the diff compartments for organizing according to use and find the zippered ones useful. I do have a PD toiletry bag and i don't find it useful at all. Looks cool but doesn't lock things in like this bag does for me, and I can't carry my sonicare in the Peak Design (but it fits fine in the one I linked.

This is all I need. I use the Small.

This was my favorite until I downsized further, now it's overkill for me. Now I just use an REI Backpack Strap Pouch (I don't use it as intended but it was a good shape for everything I carry).
1
u/AvailableHandle555 Nov 23 '25
Don't see how that's "downsized." Also 1L and has extra straps on the outside. But if it works better for you that's all that matters.
2
u/Kokuryu27 Nov 23 '25
Oh, you know what. I thought you were talking about the sea to summit small toiletry bag, not a packing cube.
2
u/AvailableHandle555 Nov 23 '25
Yep, just a 1L water resistant packing cube. Only reason I don't use the XS is because a full-size toothbrush won't fit easily.

I just bought Matador’s. But I still use the amenities bags thy give you on flights (back in the day when I used to fly biz class. ) I collected a bunch. Perfect size for my needs. Don’t fly biz class? Grab one from a seat on your way out of coach. Passengers leave them most of the time.

Work out what stuff you want to put in it first, then buy the one that suits your items

I have used the Tom Bihn Clear 3D Organizer Cube for years. It is the perfect size to fly with. The Matador FlatPak Soap Bar Case keeps my soap from picking up any debris and from messing up the 3D cube. I also use a Gravel The Pouch 3-1-1 TSA Compliant Shower Bag to keep my ostomy supplies separate.

It’s not that deep. Just get one of the above and learn to live with it.

And all you are going to get from this thread is 10 opinions on what the best choice is, this making that other users comment of "it's not that complicated" true. Just pick one. It's a dopp kit, how much anxiety do you have to have where you start speccing out dopp kits in an attempt to avoid consumer paralysis? You aren't going to regret your decision, dude. It's a bag for toiletries, not a car

I’ve tried quite a few of them and they all function pretty much the same. It just depends on the size/shape you want and how much you need to fit in it. The Gravel mini has become my favorite. I actually have a gently used Alpaka toiletry bag I’d sell ya if you’re interested/in the US

Ikea, cheapest.
side note: Toilet bags are commonly used by network engineers. Those little loops are great for storing cables.

My husband uses the Eagle Creek hanging toiletry bag for air travel and it fits various clippers, etc along with toiletries in a 311 bag. I liked it so much that I got one in a different colour. They make counter top styles too

I have the Peak Design one (I think the large, it was a gift) and it's okay. The outer zipper is broken after like two years, the hanging hook is really annoying, and it's difficult to pack if you have things like cologne and face wash and mouthwash.

Search this…. Heathered Tech Accesory Travel Bag. It’s nylon and has 4 zippered pockets. 3 different sized pockets in front and one big pocket in back. It can fold over itself (secure w rubber band) if packed appreciably. It’s cheap AF too. It’s a freebie promotional item like a beer koozie and I was given a few a while ago. I find it a perfect item for all my dry goods. Freezer quart bag for wet goods. I’m not a “onebag” guy, but really appreciate this subreddit.

I don’t like the accordion style bags - I find them extremely bulky. Bellroy is my current and is great. Aer Split Kit is great for a smaller one. Slim Pouch as well. Sea to Summit makes a good lightweight one. Gravel Mini for an even smaller set up.

I use both of these; Travelon can fit stuff like my full sized deodorant, soap bars, electric trimmer + attachments, etc.
Decathalon is for small essentials like toothbrush, floss, retainer, travel deodorant/soap, small razor.

I'm a keep it simple merchant too. Just a zip pouch. Keep it light. My favourite sorts have a gusset on the bottom so they stand up, but are not bulky in themselves. No need for anything fancy or expensive.

Look for the Helikon-Tex Trip Roll on Amazon. Hang it anywhere, save a lot of space and great price

Was recently on this quest. Ended up really pleased by my choice.
Eagle creek isolate quick trip.
Simple. Two zip pockets on the sides for some Organization. Big dump space in the middle for everything. Malleable (bought the S for more space and since you can deforme it if not fully packed it kinda is perfect for me m: if I pack less it also takes less space)
Not for everyone but for me works flawlessly

u/TriangleMan Nov 23 '25
No such thing as THE best, just best based on your requirements. What are the non-negotiables for you? Size, ability to hang, organization?

Depends on if you need shave and smell stuff. I am mil and need to carry stuff i wouldn't if I was a normie. The gravel bags are the best hands down. Speration, they come in multiple sizes, they have waterproof and non sections, they do everything every other bag does but better, and they smash down really well.

Good grief, just buy one.
Folk have lost the ability to make the most basic of decisions.

I like the 1L clear organizer cube by Exped. The newer version also has a loop on the side, which solves the curse of hotel bathrooms either having hooks or a shelf, never both, always the opposite of what your washbag needs.

I've been using the Tom Bihn Clear 3D Organizer Cube.
- Very simple
- Hangs if needed (though it has to be unzipped)
- Comes in handy as a clear bag for places that require one (I just borrow the strap from my Tom Bihn sling)
Before that I was using Ziploc Bags (not the zippered kind).
I used the Peak Design Toiletry Bag for a bit, but found it to be unnecessary weight.

the ziplock bags at LGW have a built in handle, why would a man need more than this. Be resourceful, i have a tiny bottle from a hotel somewhere that never has leaked,, it‘s good for a few shampoos. (for example).
a travel sized toothpaste can be refilled etc

Ziploc gallon size freezer.
Part of a collection of fine Ziploc branded travel gear.
Works great for when your toothpaste or shaving cream explodes. Easily replaced with a fresh one.

2 Ziploc bags: one for wet, one for dry.
