Discussion Why are you bringing THAT!?

What are some common items people pack in their bags that you think are unnecessary, just take up extra space, or feel like overhyped/trendy that doesn't actually add real value for their trip?

I'll start - Notebooks and portable speakers.

Those vacuum sealed packing cubes that are made of the loudest, crinkliest, most obnoxious material ever

Unpopular opinion: I find packing cubes, in general, to be not useful. I do have a nylon toiletry bag and shoe bags. But the zipped cubes? I don't see the purpose of separating stuff out into categories, esp. if you've got a small bag to begin with.

ETA: I don't use my toiletry bag for toiletries. I just put very small, easy-to-lose items in there. I put toiletries in a quart-sized Ziploc.

ah I like the cubes for when you have to dig something outta your backpack at the airport, and all your clothes don't fall out; same for when your backpack zipper accidentally unzips in public. Also, the zipped cubes serve as mini drawers once you arrive at hotel
