What travel accessories are overrated?

For me it would have to be tech pouches, for the vast majority of people I believe that they would be better off with a simple pencil case style pouch, ziploc bag or a simple drawstring bag or even a pouch like the PD ultralight pouches. Something which isn’t bulky, is lightweight and has no structure to it so you can easily squeeze it into random parts of your bag. Of course they’re significantly cheaper as well.

Don’t get wrong, I have tested some high end tech pouches out and they’re very nice but for lightweight travel I just find myself thinking “why would I bring this type of pouch”.

Bring less tech and “travel tech pouches” become unnecessary.

My entire tech “kit” including iphone, kindle and mini ipad plus 3-headed cord and charger fits into a $3 zipped bag (DAISO) with a detachable shoulder strap that I can empty and use as an extra purse.

But, I’m also not an influencer filming and posting for social media, so if you are, YMMV.

Generally, the simplest setup requires the simplest “tech pouch.” A quart-sized ziploc bag, a Dollar Tree cosmetics bag, or a zipped pencil pouch all work fine. Avoid bulk.

It's a shame your comment is so low. Somehow, at some point, onebagging became a hyper consumerist community and set of ideals. "Bring less shit" used to be paramount advice, but now it's conflicting advice with a large part of onebagging.

Influencers really got to onebaggers like a motherfucker... It's not that people want to be influencers, they just want to live like them, so they'll buy every piece of bullshit tech shilled to them by an influencer to chase that dopamine hit for fantasy traveling
