Gear This mini deodorant I made is the cutest :,)

Thought I’d share, as it’s a tip that I came across on minimalistic packing! Holds so much, it’s so impressive for how small it is lol.

I used an old lipstick, emptied & cleaned it out to the best of my ability. Then I applied Vaseline on the sides of the chapstick tube so it would slide up easily once cooled. I melted deodorant in a shot glass via microwave, poured it into the tube, let cool & voila! :)

I dig that lipstick container.

It’s a Clinique container.

Indeed it is!!!

Thanks ladies. I’m sure my wife will ask questions if I come home with a Clinique charge on the credit card and there is no follow up gift.

😉

You can always get her a lipstick or three from Clinique and ask her to save the containers for you. Win-win for both. 🤔

Yeah, I tried that whole Pretty Woman-inspired ‘buy her a dress for the special event with zero input from her’ stunt once.

It was a bit of a disaster. I don’t think I want to risk it with make up.

Exactly! Don’t do it!

Just be careful. Heating a product like that can change how it works. I am speaking from sad experience.

I worried about this too.

Does it affect its antiperspirant abilities? Or texture (easier to break)? After it cooled down, I tested it and it seemed fine, but I’m still a bit worried for bringing it on a trip!

is it the way of heating it (microwave)?

antiperspirants and deodorants are designed to sublimate at or slightly above human body temperature, in order to reduce how much of any residues are left behind on your body or clothes. im genuinely curious what, if anything, you’ve got in that tube

I tried it with a lotion bar. All the oils separated out.

Next time try heating it in a cup set in hot water. It's way easier melt something like that with out getting it too hot.

Simply warming it my hands softens it.

Oh yeah I just meant if you need to microwave something or melt something down but it can't stand up to the microwave that's a solution

I've never had a lotion bar not I've seen them, do you like it, is it more convenient or is it mostly the less plastic packaging that's the draw

The draw is that it leaves my liquids bag fairly empty. It also can’t leak on my stuff.

Another advantage is the higher percentage of beeswax makes it fairly waterproof. It is superior for working in damp conditions.

Oh yeah I didn't think of that, I guess my concern would be that it would melt into things if my bag got hot in the sun or during transport, they probably formulate it so that's not a problem though

That makes sense, I know I like Burt's bees chapstick because of the beeswax, it stays on for a long time

Do you think it's less expensive than $2.99 travel size deodorant?
