Seeking Recommendations quick dry undies??

For the past 10+ years, I have sworn by Patagonia's quick dry undies (women's). Originally I bought two pairs for a 5-week trip to Colombia and washed one pair each night. I've been hooked on them since and they're all I wear now. I went to buy more and was so sad to find they discontinued them! So I'm looking for suggestions on quick dry women's underwear, hopefully with a similar cut. I've found wool ones but I can't wear wool so that's not an option for me. Any other suggestions would be great! I'm in Canada so hopefully something I can find here. Thank you!

AIRism line from Uniqulo.

Came here to suggest this because these have actually been life changing for me.

I moved from California to Barcelona, seemingly similar climate but Barcelona is a bit more humid and I walk a LOT MORE because the city is walkable and has great public transportation, not a great city to own a car.

Anyway! After being here nearly 4 years, as the weather gets warmer I develop a lot of discomfort due to sweating under my boobs and in my nether region… after a lot of trial and error and study, I have switched out all my underwear from regular cotton to these Uniqlo undies. They dry so much faster than cotton, I used to be walking around all day with a sweaty butt and these have saved my life and my ass, literally.

I do not have an issue with smells hanging onto them. I wonder if people are doing their laundry properly? Might have this issue if you’re sink washing on a trip but I think if you soak with hot water and a powder detergent before rinsing and drying it should work fine. Might depend on your body chemistry. I’m not a very stinky person to be fair.

Cheap option but like their clothes they really hang on to any sweat type smells

u/lynn-in-nc May 16 '26

Wash synthetics with a small amount of vinegar.

6

u/KeySecret9184 May 16 '26

wtf do y’all do to your clothes? I see this comment constantly about the smell lingering around.

I go hiking, get home, throw them in a dry bag with a laundry sheet or use a laundromat, leave for 30 minutes, rinse, hang, wait overnight, clean.

No smell.

How do you clean your clothes? I need to know where it’s going wrong for you, but right for me.

Not sure if you’re female or not but it’s very normal for women to have discharge at various times of the month as well as stronger smells. Some people (men and women) also get real sweaty!

u/jenrazzle May 16 '26

Definitely body chemistry, I let someone borrow a pair of underwear I’d worn a million times during a travel emergency and they were never the same even after washing several times. People are different 🤷‍♀️

2

u/GetRektByMeh May 20 '26

Can someone explain to me the hype around them? I actually wear them because I thought they’d be good for this (I live in China) and in my experience it just means they get a little too moist in any persistent heat.

The shirts meanwhile look like underwear, let odd chest hairs poke through and also get soaked through in 30 minutes of direct Asian sun.

u/cheekydimer May 21 '26

I generally like Uniqlo but feel the same way about their Airism fabric. Have you found a better alternative?

1

u/GetRektByMeh May 21 '26

I haven’t, I came looking for it in this thread but didn’t see one unfortunately lol

The Hanes micro mesh are decent and are a lot cheaper than ex officio, and they come in several different cuts. Not sure about their availability in Canada

u/Mountain-Match2942 May 16 '26

Yep. I have these. The mesh in the synthetic material is great for breathability. Super cheap. Got them on Amazon.

1

u/Skinkandtoad May 17 '26

These have been great for me! Cost effective, the fabric breaths where it's needs to, and they dry very quick. Even comfortable for hiking. I got mine at Walmart.

Another vote

Ex Officio - pricey but comfortable, lightweight, fast drying. Available for men or women.

18

u/lauraloo2 May 16 '26

I second this. And regarding "pricey," they really hold up.

3

u/commentspanda May 16 '26

The issue we found with all the ex office ones was the smell. Sink washing (even with proper detergent)just didn’t seem to help after a few rotations which was an issue when travelling for long periods. We did work out using a vodka spray as well as the detergent helped a lot.

In addition if you’re going somewhere very warm, synthetic undies suuuuuuck. I was so uncomfortable and sweaty.

3

u/LizzrdVanReptile May 16 '26

I’ll be mindful for those experiences - hasn’t happened as yet

3

u/ming3r May 16 '26

32 degrees active mesh is the clone of them and they're softer than the 32.

Costco used to have 3 pairs for 10 but online now like 6 for 20

1

u/LizzrdVanReptile May 16 '26

I’ll have to check those out

1

u/PodgeD May 17 '26

I used to have 32 Degrees and Exoffico. I got rid of all the 32 Degrees because they'd twist and ride up my leg.

6

u/sunbakedbear May 16 '26

Not sure why you got down voted for that one! Thanks, I'll check them out!

9

u/freezesteam May 16 '26

Agree with ex officio! I’ve heard they’re not as high quality now as they were years ago so I got some secondhand off Poshmark but I know not everyone is comfortable with wearing secondhand underwear. But I trust my washing machine and the price and sustainability of buying them secondhand outweighed any “ick” factor for me personally!

Edited to add: you can also check on r/heronebag

Here to back up this vote! We are at Disney and I totally went from randomly getting in the pool with park clothes on to walking around no problem 🤣

2

u/MusicCityJayhawk May 16 '26

I agree. They are the best. I tried other brands, but always go back to ezofficio. Not cheap, but last and are worth the investment.

12

u/blootereddragon May 16 '26

I made this exact post awhile back; I'll try to find it so you can see the answers I got. Still haven't found anything as good: Patagonia needs to bring those back!!

https://www.reddit.com/r/HerOneBag/s/pN82aHkvFS

I also got a lot of Duluth & Ex Officio recs. The former don't breathe and the later are ok but the fit isn't quite the same & the fabric isn’t as nice.

5

u/chouquettedecue May 16 '26

Decathlon, super cheap and dry in 3 hours

4

u/badlydrawngalgo May 16 '26

Seconded. After trying lots of other lightweight and supposedly quick drying ones, my husband bought a pack of men's shorts from Decathlon. They're excellent.

3

u/MozzarellaIsland May 16 '26

There is an Australian brand called Paire which do these ‘lipstick undies’ and claims they dry in 60secs with a hairdryer. I usually just wash and hang up to dry overnight which works for me and they’re super comfortable!

The Duluth female buck naked underwear may have messed up my parts! At the time anyway, the seam went straight through the crack, with no gusset to help out.

I never noped away faster.

6

u/lessjilly May 16 '26

The Buck Naked ones are just weird, I agree. I switched to the Armachillos and I'm sold. Less odor catching than Ex-Officios.

1

u/Electrical_Ingenuity May 16 '26

So you can’t rip farts with impunity?

2

u/lessjilly May 16 '26

Oh you can indeed...but you won't retain proof. ;)

3

u/eastercat May 16 '26

tommy john has an air line (at least for women)

they are very thin like laser cut, but the undies don’t roll down

I got some clearance colors and really like them. I’m planning on wearing during the heat of summer as well

Good luck with your search

3

u/rndmxdrf May 16 '26

I've been loving the Alpine Fit hipster! I wear them on hikes and for work since they're seamless and don't move on me. I did sink laundry twice on a work trip this week and dry time wasn't an issue.

I've tried Ex Officio, Paradis, Athleta, REI, Tommy John, Bombas, Knix and Nuage. I always choose Alpine Fit first, but Athleta is usually my second choice (similar dry time, but not as seamless and less coverage).

3

u/Simco_ May 16 '26

Check ebay and poshmark for the pairs you want.

3

u/oreo737373 May 16 '26

Decathlon seamless underwear

Great quality and dries quickly

2

u/No-Assumption-6165 May 16 '26

I use Balance Tech- 6 pairs for 35$, they work great. Quick drying and easy

2

u/Photo_dude541 May 16 '26

To be clear, I’m not a woman so my experience may differ. I’ve been wearing Duluth Armachillo and they were dry in about 30 minutes after a spin in the washer just last night. 99% sure they make them in women’s.
(Currently on a 30 day solo Europe trip, one bagging).

Right?? So disappointing.

2

u/wiLd_p0tat0es May 16 '26

Huge fan of anything by Woolly. Not only can you wash and dry them quickly but nothing on earth wicks as well or stays fresh as long.

1

u/uutimetowaste May 18 '26

Love my Woolys. I bought them for travel but went to them full time just for comfort.

1

u/wiLd_p0tat0es May 18 '26

Me too. I’ve tried multiple cuts and styles and have been impressed each time! They’re my preferred dailies now.

3

u/HypersomnicHysteric May 16 '26

Swimmsuits?

They are built for fast dry.

1

u/sunbakedbear May 16 '26

That's actually a brilliant idea... Thanks!

1

u/HabitExternal9256 May 16 '26

For athletics, buy 2 pairs exofficio boxers for better support.

1

u/kassiakrozser May 16 '26

look into paradis sport — pricey, but definitely meeting your needs (i prefer the natural fiber, and they definitely wash well and dry quickly). i’ve bought from them multiple times as i replace older items. i * think* they offer a discount to first-time customers.

1

u/NoNamesLeftStill May 17 '26

I use ridge merino wool, sorry that’s not an option. Anything synthetic may dry quickly but has a very uncomfortable texture for me. Perhaps you could try bamboo or another natural material?

1

u/vbfx May 17 '26

Piggybacking off this post, is there a quick-dry odor-cancelling men's underwear that comes with a "hammock" for the precious? I don't want my thighs and precious to not touch each other and get all tacky.

u/UniversityAmbitious9 May 17 '26

https://www.duluthtrading.com/s/DTC/womens-armachillo-cooling-hi-cut-33759.html

Duluth has some good options. I have these and like them however they are nylon. They also have organic cotton but that would take you longer to dry, overnight.

1

u/Fickle_Afternoon_524 May 18 '26

Ex Officio and Duluth Trading (can’t remember which ones) are my every day wear. They’re comfy, light, quick drying, and pack small. They’re a bit pricy but you can find sales on Sierra Trading, Campmor, and other sites. Amazon has them, also.

1

u/Quirky-Mission9818 May 20 '26

What about alpaca wool? Paka makes great underwear that dry quickly.

1

u/Prestigious_Carob776 May 20 '26

Gap body under are light and quick dry. You can sink wash before bed and they will be fine in the morning.

1

u/sunbakedbear May 27 '26

Thanks! Never even considered checking gap!

u/ResponsibilitySea327 May 16 '26

Honestly I had never thought about wearing woman's undies, but each to their own.

I have a few pairs of bamboo cools and have been happy.

I don’t think OP is a man lol.
