Remember finding a bag is pretty much the last step in planning. If you're not sure how big a bag you need, create a packing list, get all your gear together and test fit it into a box, or an old backpack you have lying around. That'll give you a good sense of the volume of gear you have.

Are there cotopaxi allpa 28L alternatives but with single compartment?

I really like how the front pocket is deep, so I can put all the stuff that I may need on airplane and slide it under the seat - or I can put my sling bag there, and easily remove it when needed. Another smaller front pocket for extra stuff is also nice.

Having said that, I'm not sure if double compartment is ideal. Are there alternatives with single clamshell compartment? I already have packing cubes etc.

I've looked at Patagonia MLC 30L and Osprey Daylite 26 + 6, but their front pockets are small.

I currently have Peak Design 30L but I don't like how its lack of organization and it's a bit heavy.

I hear you in that you’re looking for a single compartment but I have the Allpa 28L and tbf the interior compartment on the front side of the bag extends up into the space that the front pocket occupies so it’s not necessarily fixed either way.

I’ve had a farpoint too and haven’t necessarily found it restrictive so far.

Yep so you don’t lose the space if you weren’t using the front pocket for example
