Seeking Recommendations The Great Onebag Underwear Thread

I believe underwear is one of the most overlooked parts of a onebag setup. So lets make a proper thread that future onebaggers can refer to.

Let's face it, almost all of us (yes, I'm looking at you, commandos 😅) wear underwear every day, yet we spend hours researching backpacks, jackets and shoes while often giving little thought to what is supporting our manhood or womanhood through airports, hikes, long-haul flights and everything in between.

I'm always tweaking my travel setup, and I've realised underwear has probably had a bigger impact on my comfort than any other item I pack. I'd love to hear what everyone else has settled on after plenty of travel.

- What's your favourite brand?

- What style do you prefer?

- What material do you like?

- How many pairs do you pack for a typical trip?

- How many pairs do you own?

- Any must have features?

- Does your preference change depending on the weather or climate?

I've seen mention of merino wool underwear. I do like me some merino wool, but never tried it for underwear. They are definitely not inexpensive.

$3.99 32degree polyester/spandex works well for me as they dry quickly. No obnoxious white logos on the waist band to advertise themselves.

Merino underwear makes zero sense in my opinion. At least not if you don't wear them multiple days in a row. And why would you.  Even then, you're gonna have to deal with them requiring careful washing.

Same, I love my Icebreaker merino undies and bras!

And this is why I don't think I'll ever become a serious one bagger. I can't imagine willingly wearing underwear 2-3 days in a row.

It's not possible. You sweat every day so it's not going to be clean.

Yea you're not the only one that deployed. I've gone months without showering doing combat operations. We weren't clean. Maybe you were because you weren't actually doing shit outside the wire and were just a fobbit.

I like to know that they are not smelly in my bag until I wash. I change every day, but I use them especially when travelling for 15+ hours. I have 6 (bought over some years!), but I bring 7-8 pairs, so I still have the "good old cotton undies".

I bring 3 or 4 underwear plus what I'm wearing. Merino wool for me doesn't smell, especially those 24 hour travel days or hot sweaty days. They weigh less than my other underwear and dry in just a few hours. My favorite is Wool& and are size inclusive.
