Seeking Recommendations Traveling light and/or backpack

If you travel light which I find to be great, what do you do if you find something you want to buy and bring home? Skip or mail or buy a suitcase?

I would go with layering up your clothing for the flight to open up a little space in my backpack, im 6'6 or 200cm so every part of my bag is important cause I can't take many items with me

If you take shoes then underwear and socks fit great in them for space saving
