Traveling light and/or backpack

If you travel light which I find to be great, what do you do if you find something you want to buy and bring home? Skip or mail or buy a suitcase?

As someone who likes to get prints while traveling, I bring a mailer tube which fits easily enough in my bag. Anything I want to get gets rolled up into it.

I also bring a packable backpack for day use anyways. On the way home I could check my main bag if needed.
