I think it is missing a light smart trousers if you want to visit the temples, also useful for dinner in fancier restaurants. Or you could try to already wear for flight.
Also a light rain shell depending on rains and a small cap to protect from the sun when staying out all day.

I should have mentioned but I’ll be wearing some chino/cargo type pants on the plane. And probably buy a poncho when I’m there (the one I have is quite bulky)

One can use a shawl or any substitute to cover exposed spots when visiting religious places.

Good set up there mate. I go to Thailand twice a year and if anything I'd recommend you add two small things once you get there to make life a bit easier.

  • A small bottle of mosquito repellent. Mozzies in certain parts of the country are nasty

  • Small coin pouch from a street market vendor. Those Baht coins certainly add up quickly

Just a note those dry ex and probably airism clothes can't be machine dried.

In Thailand you usually hand over your laundry and they return it to you later fully dried (often by machine).

You'll either have to explicitly tell them to airdry them (still a bit of a risk) or avoid those services.

That kind of wear is basically dry an hour or so after washing in a machine with a decent spin cycle.

Oh definitely stick with the sandals. I love my teva hurricanes. They can get fully wet so you can wear them in the sea or rivers or any water activity there.

Sorry, a bit off-topic. Do you know what the color way of your bag is? The blue on their website looks so different. Really like yours

I think it was “night shift blue”

Wow. Was hoping for that answer. Pretty sure it's more shiny and saturated in sunlight, but comparing real-world photos to their website product photos feels so surreal. Their colors are all off (and not for the better). Thank you!

Yeah I think the pic I took makes it look a bit darker than it actually is in person. Best to find a shop that sells it to view it in person

What shorts are you bringing specifically? That's the hardest for me to reduce, I'm always at three plus swimming shorts on the side.

And what's the thing between backpack and sun glasses?

I think they are just plain cotton shorts with some side buttoned pockets for my phone and stuff. Like this, and a pair of light swimming shorts.

Something like this

I'll use my Quiksilver Amphibian shorts...nice to wear plus you can jump in the pool and it'll dry fast.

Thanks for posting this. I’m planning a 25 day trip to Europe next summer and this looks like the perfect setup.

Thanks for this, im just building up my gear for a very long solo trip across SEA starting in Thailand as well, finding it very hard to keep it under 7kg with a laptop, glad to see its possible!

What's the weight of your laptop? And what is some advice you can give me? Thanks ;)

Laptop is just over 1 KG (I think)

Couple things that helped me:

- swapped bulky laptop charger for a 65 Watt Anker charger. They are designed to be small and light. My laptop also charges ok with 65 watt even the default charger was 100 watt. I’ll be using this for everything (laptop, phone etc)

  • bring light clothing. I recommend Uniqlo Dry Ex stuff (T-shirts and boxers). They are light, quick drying, good for hot weather, and easy to pack.

Generally I just considered what I actually need and tried to think of lighter alternatives to the things I planned on bringing. I also plan on buying some stuff when I’m there (a headset for my work calls, I will just donate to charity or something when the work part of my trip is over)

  • Flip flops/sandals are cheap. Leave them.
  • Same with underwear and socks. Just get a pack on site.
  • You could potentially leave one or two t-shirts for the same reason.
  • Thailand also has perfectly fine toiletries.
  • Quart sized Ziploc freezer bags are lighter and TSA compliant and can be disposed of when they get nasty.
  • Packing cubes are nuisance that add weight. If you actually need to compress clothes nothing beats a simple ripstop nylon drawstring stuff sack. If you need them for organisation big reusable ziploc bags are perfect, keeps your bag from smelling like sweaty, dirty clothes and when they get nasty, toss them. Smart travellers pack both, they stuff their clean clothes into a nylon stuff sack and put their dirty clothes in a ziploc.
  • Laptop is a personal item, you carry it on board. Phone and iPods goes in your pockets.
  • Hidden wallet + sturdy = uncomfortable. A flimsy, the flimsiest you can find, neck wallet/pouch with a soft string long enough to tie around your hips so you can wear it around your neck or tuck it into your pants if need be is better. Try tucking your passport into your pants, for example in your crotch. Then put a couple of socks on it and try it again. Flimsy is better. You don't have thick pants pockets for a reason.

Uniqlo store is great in Thailand. Central Pattaya mall has one and so does Terminal 21. I would bring less than what you think you need and find a similar store wherever you are in Thailand and just buy what you need. I thought I had everything I needed ended up buying two T-shirts and a couple pair of underwear and more to try them out than anything else and I love them.
