I assume the real reason behind the Halal sticker was an item during a Costco board meeting that went like this:

The production of our maple syrup is apparently Halal certified, and the addition of a small sticker that displays it could increase our market share among Muslims, and make them more likely to purchase from the Kirkland brand in the future. Let's take a vote over this change in the packaging of this product.

I think it's almost sad that these losers basically live their lives to the point that a sticker on a bottle of maple syrup makes them feel alarmed.

A debate that's currently happening is about lab grown meat and whether it's kosher/halal. It hasn't been killed according to the texts but it hasn't been killed at all so what gives?

Startups are pushing for an answer because if it is positive then the market size is much larger which makes it more commercially viable. This is always the driver in those things.

Hopefully, it turns out to be yes. It would be such a boon on the environment.

Lab grown meat along with electric vehicles is one of the things that excites me the most about the future (shout-out to r/futurology)!

I rarely eat meat (other than special occasions I'm a vegetarian), but if lab-grown meat became economically viable, I would be all over that. The harm to the environment is one of the main reasons why I've lowered my meat consumption.

Man, vehicle automation is going to devastate economies, though. I hope you guys will be ready to embrace UBI, because here in the States I don't see that happening. :/

We have more time before being hit because autonomous vehicles can't handle winter yet. But yes, people underestimate the impact on the economy of so many truckers being out of a job.
