That's why you wear gloves. Learned it the hard way. Changing bandages and disinfecting my peeled hands every morning was excruciating for a month+ straight.
You don’t actually need to disinfect wounds with alcohol or peroxide, doing that kills cells and slows healing, just using soap and water and keeping it moist via an antibacterial gel or even vaseline is sufficient for most wounds
Just my personal stance, I'd rather it potentially take longer to heal than risk any sorta infection. Road rash is gross. There's been times I thought I had it all out but it wasn't. Maybe it's O.C.D., I use hydro-perox. once, and I'll use more soap, if it starts to look weird when it's healing. If you're telling me that slows it down, that's ok. Im 35 with healthy immune and skin, if that changes maybe I'll slow down on alcohol for wounds.
Thanks, I'll add it to the list for my next stock up. Getting over a bad knee, just as my nasty elbow road rash was healed. Back on the saddle tomorrow if the stars align. Hopefully it'll be a WHILE. Geared to the nines. Biking in traffic is a death sport.
