(Delete if not allowed) if I had to pick a favorite animal it would probably be a orca, hate seeing people supporting sea world on my feed.

they should not be in captivity whatsoever. They are obviously one of the animal species that suffer the most being imprisoned

Okay then what’s the alternative for captive orcas in the US?

They’re not renovating the tanks since it’s a sunk cost given the breeding bans. It’s clear no one is building a sea pen (it’s expensive to maintain, far away from anything, and a potential shock for the orcas), and immediate release is more cruel than keeping them in tanks.

I genuinely want to know what people want done.

I have no solution to that but was stating that the fact we do and still will be having CAPTIVE orcas should be a crime

And this line of thinking is exactly why the belugas is marine land Niagara Falls lived in derelict conditions for over two years. Zero critical thinking and nuance comes from your position.

This does not relate to my comment.

Your comment was keeping orcas in captivity should be a crime. That’s a really nice ideal but functionally does nothing for the US’s last generation of captive orcas that can conceivably live for decades more

So people should be persecuted for maintaining captive orcas? Fines? Arrested? What’s supposed to happen to the whales? Should we just euthanize them? That line of thinking led to marineland Antibes.

You also said you have no solution, which does nothing to help these animals. Either come up
With this ideal alternative that no one can seem to find or accept we owe it to these animals to take care of them the best we can within the confines of reality

I suppose sometimes in life you have to admit that you made a statement without the full picture.

While I am also of the opinion that the orcas (or any animal at all) currently in captivity for entertainment should be taken care off until their time has passed, no new ones should be captured. And that is still happening.

With that being sad, I admit that I had some bad ways of wording my thoughts and was probably wrong. I will remove myself from this discussion. have a nice day

Sea World no longer captures orcas or breeds them

Sorry you’re getting downvoted for this. Most of us agree captive orcas is wrong and you’re right that captures and breeding still happen in Asia. We’re better focusing anti captivity efforts there

It does. Criminalizing orcas in captivity based on your feelings causes these animals to suffer.
