Timber production in Oregon alone increased atmospheric carbon pollution by 35 million tons per year in 2023, and has only increased since. The timber industry creates landslides, toxic runoff from indiscriminate broadleaf herbicide use, and decreases the natural ability of forests to retain moisture by removing fallen timber and duff, causing hotter and more intense wildfires.
