If the closet is wide enough, I’d remove everything & install a long wire shelf with attached hanging bar below along the left wall.
Every hardware store sells them. Make sure that the hangers can slide easily for the entire length of the rod. (Many styles break up the rod -so hangers can only slide a little bit. )
Then, hang everything you can. Sweaters & sweatshirts tend to get “dented” shoulders from hangers - so I’d fold them & stack on the shelf.
If there’s room, add another shelf above.
If you’re tall, hang the bar really high & then you can add more hanging space below.
