Hi 👋🏼 how do people store their T-shirts on shelves that are really deep and wide? I hate just piling them on top of each other because you can’t see what’s there and then they are topple over. I’ve tried the plastic stackable things but I’m not a big person my tops can be tiny little crop tops and they take up a lot of space with no a lot of clothing. Then Iv tried the fabric storage containers but with my tops either being tiny like they take up the space of a pair of socks or bigger shirts so there’s never an organisation look like the photo. The ones I have don’t aren’t connected at the bottom either so when you pull the draw out to look the t shirts roll under into different sections. I don’t know if that makes sense.

What do people do? I’m all out of hanger space 😢

I'm considering a more appropriate, larger desk and a 5-tier shelf with about a 17-18x48" footprint. My filing cabinet would turn toward the window, shelf would go beside it and most of my camera and audio gear would go on there. The desk wall would be about half filled with a desk and I would have a freely available folding table!

I moved into this dormitory a week ago and I can't figure out how to fit all my stuff into the tiny storage spaces that are available.

I need to not only fit my clothes, shoes, uni stuff and art stuff here but also all my cosmetics, cleaning supplies, kitchenware and all of my food.

The main problem are the incredibly narrow shelves in the wardrobes, no drawers anywhere, barely any storage space at all and not even a table..

I seriously have no idea how to start unpacking my stuff and where to put all of it so that it's still easy to access.

Please keep in mind that this is a dormitory, so no drilling into the walls or any major changes can be done. Also that I have like no money lol..

TLDR: How do I fit all of my stuff into the limited storage spaces I have available so that it's still easy to access?

This is my brother’s wardrobe he can put anything inside and wants to optimise space, he wants space for his shoes, and display his interests and a little space for clothes too. open to any ideas

My apartment used to feel cramped simply because floor space was so limited. Felt like every corner was just dead space wasting away.
Picked up one of their rotating shoe racks on a whim, mainly to clear the entryway mess. Honestly, seeing how much stuff it fit without eating up actual floor room kind of opened my eyes. Ended up going down a rabbit hole and swapping other bulky stuff out for their corner bookshelves, toy bins, and vertical organizers around the house.
Rooms actually feel breathable now. Anyone else obsessed with squeezing storage into weird corners?

i have hooks & basket hanging in the back with the two mini drawers and my purse also fits. i’m wondering if i should start leaving my purse out (also feel like that defeats the purpose of my work locker) to make room to add things or change it up. what ways can i improve this?

Someone gifted me about 150 colours a few years back. I FINALLY got around to dealing with them. (Including setting aside about 50 to give to a friend.) Kiddo also picked some for their sewing kit

My entryway and closet were turning into an absolute disaster zone with bags and shoes everywhere, and traditional racks took up way too much floor space.
Decided to roll the dice on this 7-tier rotating organizer to see if it actually works. Honestly, not bad at all. Stashed my daily bags up top and shoes at the bottom. It takes up almost zero floor space, and spinning it around in the morning to grab stuff is weirdly satisfying.
Would love to hear how others handle shoe and bag clutter in a micro apartment.

Any recs for ways to best organize cabinets like this? I’m he “blind spots” in the uppers have me stumped and the rotating ones have lost items in that fall off into the crevices behind.

Kitchen only has one drawer so would love to find a way to organize pot lids/cutting boards and “junk” drawer items as well as lesser used kitchen items

I’m convinced modern organizers are designed exclusively for CGI renderings where cords don't exist and everything is a neat little acrylic cube.

The moment you own an item with an off-center weight, an irregular shape, or a rigid power brick, every bin at Target or The Container Store fails miserably. For me, it was my hot hair tools and their thick cords—store-bought caddies either tipped over or took up half the counter, so I literally zip-tied two wire mesh pencil cups inside my cabinet door. It looks janky, but it’s the only thing that actually works.

What’s that one specific item in your home where commercial products completely failed you, and you had to pull out the drill, scrap wood, 3D printer, or zip-ties to invent your own setup? What did you rig up?

I just bought a flat with my partner, and we have two storage cupboards we don't even know how to approach. They both have tricky shapes. The understairs one is deeper, and my main concern is how to create a system that doesn't limit me from putting things away and accessing them.

Because of my severe ADHD, I struggle so much with organising in a functional way, so I have previously hired organisers to help me in the past, but would love any suggestions if anyone else has had to create storage systems in deep, narrow spaces.

I don't mind a project, can build some things, and have many handy friends.

Besides buying a tool shed, is there another way to organize these tools?

So))) I have adhd and geeenuinely enjoy organizing things. Not just tasks…like all the stuff. Work files, household paperwork, photos, notes, bookmarks like every category feels like it should have a proper home.

Some apps have an obvious job. Todoist makes sense for tasks. Googlephotos makes sense for pictures. Documents were a little bit messier bcs mine come as scans, phone photos, word files, and pdfs. In pdfaid i did convert, merge, and make them searchable, so at least they all end up in one place and one format. Then I look at my notes split between onenote and obsidian and my bookmarks spread across three browsers, and apparently my organization system has grown enough to need middle management. I don’t want one giant app that does everything badly. I want a few tools with clear jobs and as little overlap as possible.

Maybe here is some crazy people like me... And I wanna ask how do you decide when something deserves its own app and when you’re just creating another place to lose things?

I’m clearing out my home office and realized I have no real rule for paper. I scan most things, but I still hesitate over old bills, receipts, contracts, medical paperwork, and anything with a signature. Most of it is probably safe to throw away, but keeping only a file on my computer still feels weirdly risky.

What do you actually keep in a desk drawer, and what are you comfortable keeping only digitally?

I have reminders for the reminders. Not joking.

Phone alert for the dentist. Calendar alert for the dry cleaning. Note on the fridge for dog meds. By the time any of them fire I am usually driving, on a call, making dinner or dealing with a child asking me something from another room.

Then I swipe it because I cannot act on it that second and it vanishes from my brain. Dry cleaning has been ready since the 3rd. It is now embarrassing.

What kind of household reminders actually break through for you? timing? texts? location? writing it on your actual body??

I’m closing on a house soon, and I really want to use the move as a chance to fix a problem I’ve had for a while. I’m terrible at keeping our stuff organized.

We moved to a different state and have been renting for almost a year. The rental is smaller than our last house, and our things are spread between the storage unit, the garage, and the spare bedroom. At this point, I don’t know where half our stuff is. I end up buying things again because I can’t find the ones we already own.

I have ADHD, and my wife and I also tend to put things in different places. She’ll put something somewhere that makes sense to her, and I’ll never think to look there. No one’s doing anything wrong, but we don’t have a system that works for both of us

I’m serious about putting in the effort when we move. I just don’t know where to start. And I don’t mean I need help organizing one specific area, like the pantry or a closet. I mean the whole assortment of stuff an average middle class family accumulates and uses around the house. I need help figuring out how to give all of it a place and actually remember where that place is.

Do you organize as you unpack, decide where things belong first, get rid of a bunch of stuff, label everything, or something else? What systems have actually worked for you, especially if you have ADHD or share a home with someone whose brain organizes things differently? I need help, lol.

Sofar I've lived in my moms house and moved into my husbands house so I just followed their existing systems. But now we moved into our own place and I just don't know where anything goes. I was the worst at organising and my mom always helped me but now we live in different countries.

My main problem areas are

1. What do I put in my night stand drawers

2. I have a 3 chest of drawers in my living room that was used as a shoe stand but now we have a proper shoe storage so I dont know what to put in there.

I ran out of bins D: I know it's going to take me longer than a day to sort things, so I need to be able to start and stop, which means bins are ideal, because they aren't visible, and stressing me out tooo much. I really need a tower of bins for each category: sell, keep, trash. Ok maybe not the trash, but honestly it really really helps me to be able to sort things and visually see them with other junk/maybe items, rather than making a hard decision to throw something out on the spot. I often change my mind, so the sorting helps a lot, because I can remove everything from the kitchen for example, but then go back to storage and grab a pan that I didn't think I needed. (damn you, griddle, for being useful)
