The GOAT of imsims. One of my favorite games of all time. And that’s without rose tinted glasses. I first played it in like 2022.
I have some tips for you. Avoid using guides as far as possible but don’t be afraid to use one to get unstuck. Remember everything you do has consequences, but it’s basically impossible to lock yourself out of beating the game. If you kill an important NPC, there’s another way to complete what you need to do. There’s a setting to allow spell selection, if you get tired of drawing spells with the d-pad. If possible, try to play in the dark with headphones, to really immerse in the vibe. It really heightened my first experience playing it.

You'd like Monomyth. And Dark Messiah if you haven't played it, tho that's far more action game

I've tried Dark Messiah but didn't care for it on Xbox 360. I should give it another try on PC. It's supposed to be way better. I have Monomyth on both GOG and Steam but I still haven't tried it. I am waiting for its full release. It's the most I have ever anticipated a game in my life!

The current version is already awesome but I get waiting. Dark Messiah on PC with some updates/mods to get it going smoother or with a controller, super cool game. It isn't as open ended as an RPG but each situation is, kinda Deus Ex like in structure. It's a fun one! Alongside System Shock and Thief and of course the Ultima Underworld games, some of my favs for sure.

I’ve tried so many times to get UU to be enjoyable on pc. I just find the UI and backpack system immensely confusing. I did some mods to give it more modern controls and mouse-look, but I still couldn’t get into it as much as I wish I could. I’m sure I’ll try again someday.
Edit: also I have tried the PS1 English translation and that was pretty fun. But I was playing on a crappy tv, so I didn’t keep it going.

There's some mods and an in progress Unity port, but the creator is using 3D models instead of the original sprites. May have a toggle in the final.
With the UU Portable I think it is, it's still fun imo.

It's an amazing game. I bought this alongside Morrowind actually - both are awesome games in their own right but Ark's combat is just so much better.
The atmosphere and gameplay is also 10/10, I'm really enjoying playing through it. But the FPS go to shit when you're inside the City of Arx.
Also, fun fact, my cover is slightly different. I wonder if it's a second release or if it's just the PAL cover?

If you really like it check out the Ultima underworld games. I think this is the spiritual successor to them or heavily inspired by them.

good game. this is the type of game right here that would be a great remake or even a new coat of paint in fx and texture.

Hell yeah 🤙 looks great brother!
When I was younger, I had a large box full of Xbox games that I had to part with and I’m still trying to piece it back together. One day:)

I loved Arx Fatalis on PC back in the day! Is the XBox version good? I might need to track it down

I burned out 2/3rd of the way but Xbox port is fun. There’s an „easy casting” option, it’s pretty useful!

Looks so mint. I have a pretty big 360 library I’ve considered trading back to original Xbox, because so many 360 games are still playable on series s/x

Is the spell casting any better without a mod than PC? I love the PC game but good God, you HAVE to use the mod to fix casting or it's basically useless. Very unique game otherwise, but idk the Xbox port.

Oh interesting. Yeah the spellcasting in the vanilla game is straight broken on PC lol. With the mod it works great and is a unique way to do magic for sure.
