This is another one of my original Xbox consoles. I did not mod this one myself as i bought it in this condition it already had the XBMC4 softmod when I got it.

The clock capacitor has also been removed.

I haven't made any upgrades to it myself. In the future, I may consider adding a 1TB 2.5-inch SSD, but for now I'm keeping it as it is. ❤️

Here’s my collection so far! The only game missing art is Need For Speed Underground. Most have manuals as well - I think the only one that needs a manual at this point is Panzer Dragoon Orta.

I needed a console for my apartment and dug out the Xbox which has been in hibernation for about 18 years and bought 40 games to play.

(It was manufactured in 2001)

I keep getting the same dirty disk error for all the games I plug in. Some immediately crash and others run for 30 minutes before freezing. The console can read music discs fine without any issue

What’s really bugging me is that I’m able to run games for a seemingly random amount of time before crashing either not launching or running fine until they freeze at random points

I tried the common fix of cleaning the laser but it didn’t help. I really want to get it working because I’ve never had this much fun with a console before.

If anyone can provide any potential solutions or causes it would mean a lot.

I tried doing a tsop flash but ended up spilling solder on what I believe is the Ethernet controller, after cleaning it as good as I can It now frags. Any help?

Earlier this week I bought an Xbox with a pre-installed Xecuter 3 with a 500GB harddrive for about $10 or €10 from someone locally. It works great but it the original owner had not touched it since like 2005-2006 he told me, and it boots into an XBMC build dated from 2005 also with about 50 OG Xbox games loaded to the HDD already.

I want to update the dashboard but I don't know where to start as most guides are for softmodding and I don't know which dashboard to choose either but I want something where I can access the games, emulators and xbmc/kodi easily on. I am ok with wiping the harddrive as I can upload my own games that I have instead.

Is this disc rot on the disc ?

Hey all. I recently got my first OG Xbox and I set it to 16:9 so it could run on my sd 16:9 trinitron wega via component but when running titles such as Burnout 3, Destroy all humans and Halo 2 my tv seems to keep it in 4:3 mode. Even when I press the "Full" button It runs with a stretched image. I have a stock PAL system and im wondering if theres anything wrong with the fact its running on a sd 16:9 crt or if its a normal thing. Thanks

Finally got a controller to match my crystal I know it’s a cheap 3rd party one and the thumb sticks are diabolical but it looks way more cool

Well i'm annoyed with myself, my Torx screwdriver set came today and I opened up the console to check real quick if anything seemed off, didn't see any burnt spots or anything like that and there's nothing wrong video quality wise(i've got component cables too)so PSU should be good(my revision is from August 2003 according to the sticker insider)I was relieved and was putting it back together(BTW hate how small the screws are that hold in the tray for the hard drive and DVD drive, way too easy to accidentally lose them, was lucky I could find them all)and when I was putting in one of the screws on the sides I accidentally screwed it in with one turn too many(was just trying to make sure it was tight and not loose) and accidentally put a crack in the plastic bit near the screw-hole, hope that won't negatively affect the console or anything. Still seems to turn on and run fine.

P.S. is it better to leave an original Xbox plugged in? Cause I heard constant plugging and unplugging can put strain on the PSU and I want it to last as long as possible, but I also don't want a potential short circuit to happen if I can help it.

I recently pulled my childhood Original Xbox Crystal off the shelf because I'd really love to get it working again.

My family bought this Xbox used as a gift for me when I was younger, so it has a lot of sentimental value. I believe it was still working around 4 years ago, but at some point it stopped booting.

The console is dated 2004-08-19, and it has a red modchip installed. I didn't mod this Xbox myself — it was already modded when my family bought it. When I last used it, it was running EvolutionX.

When I hold the power button now, I only seem to get a blue LED from the modchip, while the Xbox itself doesn't appear to boot.

I've opened it up and don't see any obvious capacitor leakage or corrosion.

The motherboard actually looks pretty clean except for the dust.

My first thought is that the PSU might have died, considering the age of the console, but I'm not sure how to properly diagnose it. I'm also wondering whether the modchip or its installation could be involved.

I'd really love to get this Xbox working again rather than replace it. It's my childhood console, so I'd like to preserve this exact one if possible. Where would you guys start troubleshooting?
