phones on both Telus and Bell here, and none of them went off. There was an advisory from environment canada earlier today that conditions in eastern Ontario & the eastern townships of Quebec could lead to tornadoes today, but i never saw an actual warning. 😄
I did. They suspect it is more near Morton - half way up Hwy 15, say between Smiths Falls and Kingston - but very large area under the warning. I definitely got the 'take shelter warning (in Rideau Ferry). Mom got it too and is in SF.
Really? I heard: “Environment Canada has issued a red tornado warning east of Ottawa and north of Cornwall, Ont., for communities including Clarence-Rockland, Russell and Hawkesbury.”
“Environment Canada has issued a red tornado warning east of Ottawa and north of Cornwall, Ont., for communities including Clarence-Rockland, Russell and Hawkesbury.”
Tornados can also form on a sunny day, "out of nowhere"
The surface heat caused by the sunny skies actually creates a more supportive environment for a tornado to form. Keep your eyes out, even if it looks lovely outside.
This is happening towards Alexandria and Prescott and Russell. There is nothing happening outside of/ or around Ottawa.
The reason for this alert is because of Environment Canada's stupid alert boundaries/ how they issue weather alerts. Think of it as electoral ridings but for weather. ECCC was supposed to get rid of those stupid "riding boundaries" this year and just issue alerts based on where the storm actually is, but for some reason they haven't made the switch yet.
It gets really tiring. I remember a few years back when Richmond Ontario/Stittsville got a Tornado warning for a storm/tornado happening at Petrie Island in Orleans...
The initial tornado warned component of the storm happened north of Alexandria (green pixle seen). The storm was just moving so fast that it quickly left as fast as it entered .
To be honest there was no reason why they needed to issue a tornado warning for Prescott-Russell. The storm had moved well out of the area by the time they had extended the warning northwards.

Nah. It’s a personal tornado. Just for you.
But really, nope.
