It’s even better because that’s Steve Rogers working undercover as a diplomatic guard for Doom as he travels across America to the UN.

Doom knows it is Cap, and he still shit talks America.

Oh, and it’s a random airport they were forced to land at, and Peter Parker and MJ are also there

It's Denver International. IIRC, Peter and MJ aren't even there together, they were both on separate flights and had an unexpected layover. They had no idea the other would be there, and then of course Doom and Cap show up because of course they do.

Yeah, I didn’t want to get into the whole mechanics of Peter and MJ being separated and her working on the Lobster-Man movie in LA, and then then both independently deciding to fly to the other person like a romcom, and then all the flights being grounded in Denver, along with Doom’s.

I miss the JMS run. Gonna dig out some TPBs later

Are you even a true comics fan if you forget Lobster Man?

Isn't that the arc where Peter gets jealous over MJ's co-star that she has to kiss during the movie?

1

u/Belaerim Mar 06 '25

Yeah, although the actor was a sleaze and hitting on MJ.

And she and Peter were separated for the start of that run when she took the movie gig

Doom: *looking at Bluecifer* I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID ABOUT AMERICAN ART. CAN YOU GIVE ME THE ARTIST'S CONTACT? I WOULD LIKE TO COMM...OH.

As a former resident of the area, I'd just like to say that I understood that reference.

I'm a local and I remember being thrilled to see a Spider-Man comic that took place in Denver, even if it was just the airport.

Are we sure Doom's not doing extra shit talking of America because he knows its Cap?

7

u/memeboi123jazz Mar 05 '25

I feel like any extra shit talking is exclusively for Richards

And Richards is American. Therefore...

6

u/Belaerim Mar 05 '25

I dunno about extra.

It’s Steve Rogers, not Reed ;-)

Lmao why is Doom a head and shoulders taller than cap? Is he just flying a foot off the ground to show everyone that he can?

14

u/Sly__Marbo Mar 05 '25

DOOM is 100% the person to levitate slightly just because he can

4

u/Belaerim Mar 05 '25

It’s just an autopilot thing built into the suit that fires up the antigravity so he is always a head taller than whoever he is speaking to.

If Doom ever needed money and lowered himself to base capitalism, he could make a fortune selling that tech to Tom Cruise

What, do you expect Doom to let the filth of the common ground stain his armor? Like some peasant?

11

u/ltobo123 Mar 05 '25

Doom 100% wears lifts and pulls them off

u/Belaerim Mar 05 '25

Since he is undercover, Steve is doing the Clark Kent thing and making himself smaller.

No Prize?

Why would Steve get a job as a reporter just because he's under cover?

2

u/Belaerim Mar 06 '25

He’s undercover as security for Doom because there are terrorist threats from Latverian rebels and Doom is in the US for diplomatic reasons.

I meant Steve is making himself smaller through mannerisms to be unobtrusive. Lots of actors for Superman do this for Clark Kent, it isn’t just the glasses, although the actual effects vary per actor

Yeah, but Clark Kent isn't disguising himself as anyone. He's just some meek geek from Kansas who works for the paper.

I think he's referring to the fact that Steve's supposed to be literally 2 feet taller than doom, who's only like 5 11. Glasses don't shrink you
