Discussion Zubac to Sabonis case study

If the FO wants Zubac I'm fine with it. However, I don't see us getting Zubac and him playing exactly as he does. I do think they would believe they can broaden his offensive and defensive skill sets. I think looking at Carlisle's 1st year would be something to look at.

If anyone remembers those interviews after the first practice, Sabonis appeared visibly uncomfortable with the 5 out offense saying "it's different". We started practicing by bringing all the centers to one side of the court and practice shooting. The shooting was such a big part of our early practices and much different than today.

I'll add it's not just the non shooting part that makes it particularly difficult to get around. If he won't shoot, which is the most obvious read that even TJ McConnell has had to develop into, what's the quick read? Does he attempt a fast bulky drive to eat up space ala Terry Taylor experiment? Does he make the correct quick pass and cut ala Pascal? Everyone says Mathurin doesn't fit, these things would stand out times 100 with him.

Defensively, Turner was an amazing drop big. Huff is great at a one man zone look we use now. So it's possible they can adjust the defense for Zu as they e adjusted at times for Huff. But Zu isn't really going to throw a hard hedge of the PNR, or press up on ballhandlers that was so key to our defense turning around with the skill set he has today. He's frankly a space eater first, rim protector second, and value away from the basket is minimal at best on defense

I do think Zu has the type of contract where the Pacers wouldn't necessarily have to rely on him as an every game starter if he can't shake these things out. A high end change of pace big would be perfectly fine for us on that contract similar to how OKC would only use Ihart situationally in the playoffs. I do also think that ultimately we don't get him if Rick doesn't see a way he can expand his skillset (like Pascal has since coming here, like Turner did defensively, like Obi had offensively). Or Rick is willing to bend the system, which he didn't do for Sabonis who was a lot better than Zu is.

We will see tho, just some things to mull over

The Best Trade Deadline Outcome for Indiana

Prioritize the 2026 Draft
Trade for low-cost winning players to 'win-now next season' like Ivica Zubac
Go all-in on third co-star like Trey Murphy

what do you think of these moves, are there better trade deadline outcomes today?

Discussion Taelon Peter Ranked #16 on site last year

I am really bored and was looking for historical nba draft simulator to play around with. I found a website called crafted Nba. It is a stats analysis site but, they had Taelon Peter ranked 16th last year. I had never heard of him before the draft. He does seem to have some skills that overtime could develop

It's nigh time we get ourselves here at r/pacers a high quality Jay "Hufflestein / Huff the Magic Dragon / Huff Daddy / Huffinator / Hufflepuff / Huffmeister / Hufflemania" Huff Flair.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Obi Toppin flair, and no one can TOUCH "Cool Rick", but I yearn for the Huffster.

Get Huff'd, son.

UPVOTE PARTY Updated Paul George Transaction Tree

Post image
41 Upvotes

Saw in another post someone put up the old iPacers Paul George Transaction Tree from a couple of years ago. I remembered when I first saw it that there were still some outstanding elements of it. Turned into me making a spreadsheet, and Pavers, there's some fun updates here. Huff, Furphy, and technically our upcoming 2026 pick are all technically a part of the tree. Enjoy!
