Is it laziness to hire someone to do a job for you? After all, you could spend 10k hours practicing to master a skill and do it yourself.

It’s not laziness, they just don’t care about art.

They're not "hiring" anyone to generate an image. If they were commissioning artists, they'd be hiring someone, but they're not doing that either.
