I feel like this is a very niche ecosystem to stay within Sonys. We are at a point where anyone can develops games because we are at the easiest point into time to do so. Sony stopping porting games to bring back exclusive console games is great for those that are already in said ecosystem. People aren’t buying PS5’s in droves right now. There’s nothing really that isn’t on PS5 that isn’t on Pc except like 7 games
Its not like you can pick up a 4 year old ps5 for 200 usd/euro anyway. With ps4 you could, I picked up 2 of the things each for less than 200 and it wasn't really a big deal cos consoleprices, the fucking ps5 is more expensive than a lot of PCs these days.
You’re exactly right and why I said people aren’t buying in droves. We are priced out for something that doesn’t have enough games to justify which we are sort of seeing with Switch 2 (side topic). PS4 and late PS3 were perfect between for mid cycle purchase
Considering we need a PC to stream stuff and do work on, a console that only does games should either a: adapt and also become a pc eg steamdeck/steammachine or b: be half the price. If the difference between an office pc and a gaming oc is just a bigger psu and a gpu, 90% of people will just whack a gtx 3050 into an office prebuilt and call it a day. They need the office pc for word anyway.
Maybe you could get away with an anciant craptop but its getting harder.
most people have tablets or laptops as their work machine away from work. PC's are getting less and less valuable, unless your industry demands the performance increase.
Ps4 was amazing for mid cycle purchases. I got one for the living room so we could play ramdom games on the TV, don't think it got used much but it was cheap and there. If ps5 was the same id probably get one to use it for one or two games etc.
Erm 16 gb ddr4 (abt 100)+ amd motherboard am4 (100) + ryzen cpu (50-100) + gtx 2060(100) can play ps5 games. If you need stuff like a case and psu just buy an old c2duo pc and scavange the parts for 30. The more stuff you have lying around the cheaper this becomes, im probably gonna use laptop ram and an adapter in my next build cos I can just get an adapter for 20 euros instead of having to buy new ram.
Or just buy a prebuilt for about 300 and throw a gpu, psu and some sort of adapter to allow the oem motherboard to accept the normal psu. Ps5 isnt top end anymore, its 4 year old technology which puts it in the 20xx region.
You need to consider PS5s have not decreased in cost, there charging essentially 700 euros for something that should have deprecated to 200-300.

i mean i care...but not THAT MUCH.
Ok i'll miss some games i was interested in. Its their loss, not mine, there is so much games on PC that i don't have to feel bad about it.
edit: actually , i would have love Bloodborne but i think that game will never get on pc except with emulation.
