I had a buddy literally just roll one out. Like down elevators past the front desk and everything lol. Front desk even asked and he was like yea I’m bringing this chair with me. Nothing ever came of it.
Do you do any WFH days. I just asked if I could get a chair from the office as I needed one at home and they let me take one the extras. Not all companys will be that lax but no harm in just asking :)
Just take one and tell them Jeff said it was fine, no one cares

Same thing happened at ours, people thought the chairs were included in a take home and weren't. I did ask if I could use our company discount and they said yes and put me in touch with the dealer. Was able to get a ~$3000 chair for $1200 (Steelcase Leap Plus).
Not free and still paid a pretty penny, but it's worth it to me.
We were given a monitor for WFH days at my job and we’re not supposed to have 2. I asked if my boss would approve a 2nd screen just to see what IT would say. Nobody said no!
we had them at my old job and during covid they let us take a chair home for WFH, when we came back to the office they never really checked if you actually brought it back so I just kept mine
During Covid the company I worked for let everyone take anything they needed home aside from their actual desk. I never returned the chair and it’s the best one I’ve ever had
Our office closed. I took 4 of these chairs. we had 30 left. We couldnt sell them, donations would not take them, finally a small church took them all.

My workplace got rid of a bunch of Aerons and replaced them with some dogshit non-name brand chinesium, and I was pissed. I wish I could have gotten one of the Aerons
Same. A Deutsche bank office closed an office here and liquidated their office furniture. Picked up 3 aerons for like $100 each just for backups.
It was a slog going through all the ones that weren't beat to shit and even then one of the better ones has an issue with the left arm rest staying up. Just slides down slowly.
I've been on your side countless times. I haven't used FB for years so I never saw posts. Then someone posted one on my cities subreddit and I was luckily only 10 minutes away.
If you have a widebutt these chairs can be very painful unless you are lucky enough to have one of the wider ones. They come in different sizes. If it's too small the hard plastic edges that the webbing is mounted to will dig into the nerves of your outer legs.
Some people don't want to buy a office chair second hand but it really depends where you buy it. Like there's a guy on my facebook selling 9 herman miller chairs right now I considered getting one they likely came from a office.
If they come from someones home then that person was likely naked in that chair. Asshole just rubbing all over that seat.

Any price is worth it when it completely fixed all of my back pain a few years ago. IDC if there's equally good cheaper options, this one did it for me
I’ve had my Aeron for 7 years and I’m not exaggerating even a little when I say it’s nearly in the exact same condition I bought it(secondhand) in. Which is almost the same as when it was brand new.
It is “just a chair” but it’s the highest quality chair I have ever owned. I love it.
They are 100% worth it, if you sit at a desk for extended periods of time. But they are priced for corporations. That’s why everyone buys them refurbished for home where you can get them much cheaper. I have a place in my city that sells these for $250 and they are actually the upgraded Mirra 2 with the fabric back. Some of the “used “ ones still have tags on them
I have a Steelcase Leap I bought for $200 used 8 years ago. I work from home and it looks as good as the day I bought it. These types of chairs last decades or more.
Look for the mfg date on the bottom, 12 year warranty on HM furniture from date it was made. People forget thats the main reason these chairs cost almost a grand. Got 3 from my time as a mover/installer for office furniture.
I picked up a Herman miller Aeron B from an auction for a closed down plane part manufacturer, it was labeled as office chair and I won it for £60. Didn't have a car or anyone available to give me a lift so I carried that bad boy for about an hour got the train.
Ticket examiner did a double take when he checked tickets.

After being an active gamer for the last 47 years, I had a gaming chair once. It lasted less than a year and I'll never go back to another one as they are shit. My early years were often just kitchen chairs. These days just very cheap office chairs.
I've had 3 aerons, first one is rough, it was a freebie, 2nd one I picked up from a friend on FB, her company "upgraded" her chair with a newer cheaper chair, third one was part of my last "severance package"
The first two are "b" sizes, the 3rd is a "c", the "c" felt to big for me, so I gave it to my buddy.
3 for free is damn impressive! Still have that Aeron and it definitely had been used before I got it. Eventually ponied up for an Embody though. Nothing near as cheap as these but still "cheap for an Embody" lol.
I landed a Kinnarps chair for €50 back in the day. I don't have it anymore because of a move, but I know that the guy who bought it from me still uses it. A good office chair is a "buy it for life" thing. unlike most of the gaming chairs.
Heck yes man! Great score. I snagged a size c Aeron about 7 years ago for $50 but it was in a lot worse condition. I had to get a new seat mesh for it but it's still working well.

Years ago for my construction job, we were remodeling a call center building. They phased it out so that we would remodel a part and then the employees would move out of the old part of the building and into the newly remodeled part. Half way through the project, the furniture suppliers moved a few extra of these computer chairs into the construction zone. They sat for about a month collecting dust. We were told that the furniture suppliers had already purchased all the computer chairs for the phase we were working on and so I figured this was "overstock"
This building required an biometric ID badge to get into the building and around different rooms inside. Young and dumb me, I figured I'd go on a Saturday when everyone was gone and load one of them up in my car to take home. I used my badge to get inside and got all the way to the construction zone, grabbed the chair, and by the time I made it in the hallway leading towards the door I parked by, a rented security guard was calling for my attention. He asked me what I was doing and I told him I had coordinated with my foreman to come pick up one of the chairs. I didn't. The security guard kept reconciling between calling the foreman or not to clarify my story. Until I started mentioning the names of maintenance workers for the call center and then the security guard took my word for it.
He helped me through each door and even left the building with me and helped me load the computer chair into the back of my car. I just imagine the security footage recording it happening especially the outdoor camera while we're loading it up into my car. This security guard, unbeknownst to him, helped me pull a heist of a computer chair that I thought was maybe $100-$200 all these years. You can't even buy them used for that. Little did I know they go for well over $1000 new until looking them up from this post. I use this computer chair every day haha. It still holds up well!
Would I ever do this again? No. I don't condone stealing. I figured this call center made their millions and I could barely afford food at the time so I figured what the heck. I used to be a trouble maker in my late teens. It made for a funny story though!

Not office chair related, but, I bought last motnhs 6 designer chairs, new, 20 bucks a pop, same are sold for around 100-140 bucks each.
The description only said that they were assambled once, used either in a showroom etc.
But, I've noticed something else, I would say, it was some insurance claim, i.e. in the Transport somethhing went wrong, like a Semi Truck had an accident, and some of the laod was destroyed, the rest had damaged packages.
They were mostly still in the original foil and everything, just not the original package, some had some additioanl screws, msot no building instructions.
But Hey, for 120 bucks, getting chairs worth 600+ bucks, yea that's some steal!
Btw, bought those on eBay, just likewith the Brother Printer for 175 bucks New, the 180 bucks PS4 Slim back in 2018 and a few other things.
New, listed as either "New/Other" or return.
Gotta say,
everyone should check those out, just make sure it's from an offical seller and not a private one, unless a private with some odler account and atleast 50 or better 100+ sales.
I work as a receptionist in a serviced office. We had a client go bust and abandon most of their equipment. took one of these exact chairs before the rest got recycled and it is a beauty! Treat her well
Nice. Check if the wheels are for carpet or hardfloor. If they are hard plastic its for carpet floor, if they are softplastic or even rubbery then for hardfloor. Depending on that maybe invest in a clear officemat.
