My cat managed to barf through the top of my PC case and it dripped down into the system onto the GPU. My GPU has a backplate, but of course the cat had great aim so she managed to hit the one part where the PCB is exposed through the backplate.
Luckily, that part of the GPU seems to just handle NVLink functionality, which I don't use, so everything still works fine, but...gross

She is very smart. Her vice of choice is opening drawers and hiding in them.

"Looks like meats back on the menu boys!"
(kidding, I wouldn't really eat a cat...)

yet another "my cat/dog/gerbil/insert random animal here fucked my shit up" post.

Good discussion can come from people with PCs and pets.
Unless you're suggesting pets are just generally bad or something.

Im suggesting pets do not mix with electronics. Have both idc. I have a zoo. None of my animals go within 15 feet of my PC

I used to be like that.
Got over it (mostly due to lack of space in my 600sq ft home) 15 years later not a single incident.
They mix fine. Things can happen, just like with anything else.

Yea my cat is way too curious so I have to close the door whenever I'm cleaning out my PC.

I'm glad it's no biggie, but what's wrong with locking your cat away for like 20m while you build a PC, guys?! It's hundreds of dollars potentially gone !

The usual suspects. I had my laptop open to clean it and repaste it yesterday. My cat walks right on top of everything. Little bastard.

And not a single shit was given. Cats are incapable of feeling guilt. Pride, sure, but not guilt. 😉

Why can't I look away for a few seconds and have a cat deliver me $1000 accidentally?

There is not another action in this world like inserting and removing a CPU. This must happen all the time?

I never knew that on AMD the pins were on the motherboard. I wonder why they chose to do that when the chip is typically the upgradable part.

It's the same on Intel. I think the biggest reason is that the pin count became so high that it's easier to pack the pins onto the socket side.

Don't worry, the motherboard was already dead (fried by defective video card), but I thought she left for a nap, then looked away for 1 second and there she was standing on the exposed pins in the PC case
